Summer Transfer Window

Something is not right there, just look at Liam Walsh since he left us. Running around like a 2 year old Friday night for Luton, and in games last season when he wasn't sent off or suspended. He was almost permanently injured here.
He was pretty much permanently injured before joining us also. I just had a look and he played in 20 Championship games for us 2 seasons ago, while he played in 26 for Luton last year. Not a massive difference.

I was going to say the same. Brewster has scored 9 goals in 120 games since his season with us. If it wasn't for the memories of his loan here, we'd be laughing at a team signing a player like that and expecting him to be an important player for them.
And 60 of those games were as a sub

Hull signing gelhardt which is another hugely missed opportunity.

Yet again clubs supposedly in the shit get to skirt around rules
Was he the one they signed as a free transfer even though he still has a contract to run?
I heard about such a signing for Hull and it was beyond sus

I think in general, patience will be needed. On paper we have quite a tough start and it may take us 5-10 games to get going. Don’t think we can expect to just pick up the momentum of last year even if that’s what AS says he wants.
Saw a graphic somewhere. Rated every teams first 9 fixtures in terms of difficulty. We came out on top for the hardest 1st 9 games.

Someone else posted it here. Think I saw it on a fantasy footie site. Anyway, I was 4 pages behind when I made the above post and didnt see it already posted here

ok so he's played 5,188 minutes of football since leaving us, and scored 9 goals.
that's a goal every 576 minutes (6.4 games). if he played every single minute of a season he averages 7 goals a season.
Also keep in mind that's for a team who've been at the top end of the championship.

edit to add. -
Cullen has played 9547 minutes during the same period, scoring 32 goals, one every 298 mins, an aevrgae of 13.9 goals a season.

one is deemed not good enough, the other is deemed, by some, as a goal scoring gem, out of form.

Heading into the Tuesday before the first league game then, and we're still at least 3, probably 4 players short.

Don't get me wrong, we are not a club at the top of the food chain, far from it. So the market is difficult for us. I get that.

But, I'm sorry to say it, it still isn't good enough. I think it was Lisa who said earlier that once again we appear to be just writing off 9 points before the window shuts. We should be better prepared than this. One or two players short you can sort of accept, but 4? Sorry, it's poor. It's not giving Sheehan the best possible chance to succeed.

There's been plenty to like about the new ownership so far - there has been progress, but it's still not enough. They need to be better than this. I hope they're learning from this, their first summer window.

I think the injury situation has made it look worse.
Maybe if we want to compete for promotion we need 3 other players but without the injuries to Cabango and Santos possibly 2 players should see us ok, a defender similar to Naughton who can cover across the back 4 and a striker.
Given where we are today should we get the West Ham defender in on loan I think there could be enough to to go Boro and compete and get a draw.

But that is dependnat on Sheehan. He need to set up and play to the strengths of the players he has at his disposal.
Maybe he should go 4-4-2. Several posters across here and the Indy have discussed Cullen and many beleive he is more effective playing in a 2 up front coming from deep. Maybe this weekend given we have not yet secured a striker and Vip looks doubtful we could go with 4-4-2

Defense will obvioulsy be Key , Burgess, Tymon and A N Other, hopefully Casey wiil have joined otherwise Id rather see Arthur Parker there than Fulton.

Midfield of Franco sitting with Eom Widdell and Gilbraith in front of him with Cullen and Ronald up top. Look to play quick balls along the floor. Switch to a 4-5-1 without the ball Ronald dropping back and wide , 4-4-2 with the ball.

This gives the option of bringing on Innousa, Wales, Cooper Fulton and even Vip .

Yes Sheehan could do with a few more bodies but a good coach should eb able to adapt and use players to their strrengths. I am not saying that we will storm the league or even be favourites for a result on Saturday with the players currently available but there should be enough available to be in the fight if used propeprly

I think Cullen is better than Brewster and Geldhart. Straight up. If they are the options I'd stick with Culls. I don't think Cullen has the overall guns for a consistent championship player, but I think he'll contribute more and score more than those two. I also think there is more chance for him to grow into a more consistent contributor, although I'd much prefer better.

Its easy to forget that players can be ruined by their experiences at certain clubs just as often as they grow from them
Look at Nico Williams when he joined us from Liverpool, highly rated and regarded
Had shocker after shocker and eventually just forgotten by us
Never recovered and now playing lower league football last I bothered to look

Many a promising striker has been broken by the Premier League especially when the club that buys you shunts you out onto the wing instead of up front

Nico Williams still going strong for Bilbao (y) Unless you mean Neco Williams, who is also still going strong in the Prem
