Heading into the Tuesday before the first league game then, and we're still at least 3, probably 4 players short.
Don't get me wrong, we are not a club at the top of the food chain, far from it. So the market is difficult for us. I get that.
But, I'm sorry to say it, it still isn't good enough. I think it was Lisa who said earlier that once again we appear to be just writing off 9 points before the window shuts. We should be better prepared than this. One or two players short you can sort of accept, but 4? Sorry, it's poor. It's not giving Sheehan the best possible chance to succeed.
There's been plenty to like about the new ownership so far - there has been progress, but it's still not enough. They need to be better than this. I hope they're learning from this, their first summer window.
I think the injury situation has made it look worse.
Maybe if we want to compete for promotion we need 3 other players but without the injuries to Cabango and Santos possibly 2 players should see us ok, a defender similar to Naughton who can cover across the back 4 and a striker.
Given where we are today should we get the West Ham defender in on loan I think there could be enough to to go Boro and compete and get a draw.
But that is dependnat on Sheehan. He need to set up and play to the strengths of the players he has at his disposal.
Maybe he should go 4-4-2. Several posters across here and the Indy have discussed Cullen and many beleive he is more effective playing in a 2 up front coming from deep. Maybe this weekend given we have not yet secured a striker and Vip looks doubtful we could go with 4-4-2
Defense will obvioulsy be Key , Burgess, Tymon and A N Other, hopefully Casey wiil have joined otherwise Id rather see Arthur Parker there than Fulton.
Midfield of Franco sitting with Eom Widdell and Gilbraith in front of him with Cullen and Ronald up top. Look to play quick balls along the floor. Switch to a 4-5-1 without the ball Ronald dropping back and wide , 4-4-2 with the ball.
This gives the option of bringing on Innousa, Wales, Cooper Fulton and even Vip .
Yes Sheehan could do with a few more bodies but a good coach should eb able to adapt and use players to their strrengths. I am not saying that we will storm the league or even be favourites for a result on Saturday with the players currently available but there should be enough available to be in the fight if used propeprly
