What a difference this transfer window was compared to last year. It feels quite nice to be relaxed about things.
I think we’ll look back at the end of the season and say Ward was a cracking signing. Chap up the pub last night was at the Watford game and said he reminds him of Naughton.
With the potential Walta and Nunes have, if we’re thinking the same thing about them, we’ll be right up there.

I am assuming. I always thought it was going to be a loan to permanent and just put 2&2 together.
I'm happy to put my hands up if I came out with 100.
Fees get spread evenly over the length of a contract. Doesn’t matter when the cash changes hands.

And this was always a permanent deal as far as anyone is aware. It’s changed late on today.

Ok. Hopefully in time the club comes to understand this window and learn from the experiences if the permanent deal has fallen at the final hurdle in this window.

I have the same feeling, did question the Ward signing at the time, he seems to be a great addition to the squad, especially with all the experience he brings with him.

This has to be one of the best winter windows we've had in a long time despite what one or two on here are trying to spin it.

Adding to my own post btw.

This was definitely a permanent deal until last minute.

so someone somewhere has moved goalposts - quite probably the selling club who may have wanted more in the event of x, y, z.

Which is why it may have become a loan and permanent when the answers to x, y and z are known.
Na, it's not changed.

I spoke to a journalist by DM last week and he told me then it was a loan until end of season before a permanent deal.

Apparently from a financial perspective the timing worked for both clubs.

Presumably this is why Chelsea has been signing players on 8 year contracts and doing countless deals in and out.

I had heard this too.

The club is coming into some serious money this summer… so first big installment works better for the Swans then.

Just to add to this.

Because the transfer hinges on a condition (staying up) it's not considered binding until that is achieved.

Meaning that the only cost atttibuted to this season PSR is his salary.

I'm not 100% sure how this stuff works but can't imagine he's making it up .

Yes, but the first instalment would have been due now. This now means it will be due in July instead.

Not sure if the 8 year contract is valid pretty sure this has been reduced to 5 by the
Authorities.

Ok.

I was told by someone similar that it was permanent (that was on Saturday).

I’ve also been told btw that we wanted to make sure given the jury’s a bit out on others from that league, so who knows.

One thing is certain - it’s not FFP.

We have an obligation to buy if we stay up, so it can't be that.

From what i'm told the only condition is staying up - other than that no party can pull out.
