He needs to be bedded in but the manager is not bringing him on?

The manager doesn't rate him he's made that pretty clear when he hooked him at HT, then sat him on the bench twice for the full game.

He brought 4 attackers over him today in a game we needed to score? How clearer can the messages get?
Fair point. I can only think that he believes he isn't up to the level.
That said, we were first linked to Walta before Matos came on board.
You may be right, he might not rate him.

Too many similar central midfielders and we don't have that creative or even winger with pace to supply VIP or turn a backline.

Widell brings energy but still not bringing that creativity to the table.
Widdell isn't being used correctly at the moment, he was looking promising when played centrally and is less effective when wider.

I like Widdell and his energy can set a good tempo, I would like to see Galbraith, Franco and Widdell as the 3 starters in midfield.

We can’t stick with this pairing if we want to achieve anything. One of the centre backs needs to be a ball player.

Darling is doing sod all, we could bring him back.
I agree with this (the needing a ball playing centre half part). What fans will have to accept though is that it’ll be someone at Darling’s level - who’s got some defensive deficiencies.

We’re very very unlikely to find someone of Ash’s calibre defensively and on the ball - it appears pretty much all centre halves in the Championship atm are one or the other.

Please tell me what Yalcoule does, scored against an hapless SW and done next to nothing with all his other opportunities.

If they end up in the playoffs they’ll go up imo.

It’s written in the stars.

And if and when they do, they’ll have a hell of a budget. They were talking about them playing Liverpool at Yankee stadium this summer. Their commercial reach is huge.
I don't think they will.

If the table finished as it currently is Ipswich would be the likely playoff winners and I also think Millwall would out muscle and out fight Wrexham.

I think Coventry, Boro and Ipswich will go up this season and outside of those 3 it would be Southampton for me

I don’t mind at all if they go up. It’s about time they had something to shout about.

And I think the efforts their owners have put into making sure the whole area is improved as well as the club is laudable. They seem quite genuinely invested in the widest possible sense.
It helps that they didn’t really know much about football before hand I think. They’ve developed a genuine love for it like a fan would. Obviously they are still business minded people but the fact that they are creatives first helps with connection and buy in.

Bright spot number three.. I don’t think VIP will be the target of any PL clubs, should have added at least two goals to his tally over the last two games.

Well as I posted on Tuesday we got the 6 points.
Today was definitely a what if game, but reality our season is done.
The 2-0 scoreline flatters them but they do what they do.
Problem being is we did what we do.
It could have been so different if we took those early chances and again should have had one good penalty shout.
I saying that our failings showed up, and yes travelling etc can be used but it has been a theme.
We don't have enough players who can produce a spark and play at a higher tempo.
It will be interesting to see what happens as I believe we have a number of squad players but not the correct balance in the team.
We need more physicality in the team to earn the right to play the more attractive style in this division.
Disappointed tonight but believe given backing in the summer and maybe ruthless in players leaving we could give it a good go next season.

Widell has played way more than Yalcoue, and Walta needs time.

It can sometimes feel like Yalcouye has played more because both managers have decided to make him the 15 minute cameo specialist. In the early weeks, Matos trusted Melker from the start relatively consistently although they have become less common.

Neither coach has felt Yalcouye was good enough to start regularly and he was well out of favour by the end of the Sheehan spell. It feels like 5 years ago that he was starting the first two league games when he arrived.

The same questioning of every aspect of the club and doom-mongering happens after every loss. But we’re not that far away from where we need to be. We had the worst start to a season and we’ve pulled out of that tremendously under Matos. The fact that there was worries of relegation to hopes of promotion in such a short amount of time is remarkable.

It’s gutting to lose tonight, but it’s been a tough week and we won 2/3. This season wasn’t lost because of tonight, it was lost because we were so poor in the first half of the season. I’m very excited for next season because I don’t think we’re many players away from a competitive squad and I enjoy the way Matos is trying to make us play.

Exactly. If Matos wanted to use them he would. Instead he's resorted to bringing an on loan Yalcoue who will be gone in 3 months over them both.

I think the message is clear from Matos but some fans would just rather live in blind faith.
I disagree, Matos is utlising the squad at his disposal and is doing what he should playing the players he thinks can do a the job required in the moment.

He will play them when he thinks the time is right. It's more worrying for Widdell (I think Walta is being introduced bit by bit) who seems to lack a definitve role in the current set up.

What will be interesting is what happens in the summer, who comes and goes and how tthe squad make up looks at that point.
