21/22 The Official Bristol City vs Swansea City Match Thread

From what I saw, Benda and Cooper changed the plan and decided to go long when it was needed. Some of the clearances were spot on. No need to tire yourself out and make more mistakes at the back.

Surprised to hear Russell just say that's the worst we have played this season and he is disappointed.

I appreciate he wants more possession but Ì though we were alot more direct and an enjoyable watch. Less possession for possession sake tonight.

Keeping them on their toes?

The "possession for possessions sake" is very reminiscent of early Rodgers, which even Rodgers isn't on board with any more. Would hope RM is pragmatic enough to accept that sometimes it's OK to take a few extra risks.

I can see his point though. When you're 1-0 up, keeping possession is what wins you the game not lumping it down the field - that was Cooper's approach. I tend to agree with him - we didn't control the game in the second half. We need to get back to passing teams to death. Enjoyed it though.

A big shout out the the travelling Jack's... Great turn out and support. Loud and proud. 👏👏👏

Gutted in a way as we would have gone if it was the original date, well done to those jack bastards who made the journey 👏👏👏

We need to strike a balance between passing teams to death and passing to create.

RM is starting from scratch as far as a possession based game goes. Naturally he's working on getting the basics right first and quite rightly. Once the confidence is there in the defence and the midfield we should start seeing a lot more activity going on in the final third. Start from the back, and build.

Fair enough. Didn’t watch the game but know where you’re coming from. Massive trust in new philosophy. Seen enough already to know that he’s a better manager than Cooper who was basically a coach like Clement.

Players showing more initiative and looked far more relaxed tonight. I was certainly more relaxed. A timely 3 points.

Why? When you're 1-0 up, especially away from home, you just keep the ball. Make the opposition chase you around - eventually they tire, and gaps appear and then you can take advantage. We need to control the game with the ball. We've had enough of controlling the game without the ball - we had it with Monk and we had it with Cooper. It's not great to watch.

Exciting times ahead folks - ups and downs for sure. But - we're re-inventing here and given time, patience etc., this really could be a thing of beauty - again.

No need for the panic after the first 3 league games. Still plenty to work on but a great battling display with some good football. A makeshift team so the next two weeks will be interesting. The final whistle was definitely a phew moment but looking back apart from a couple of chances in the first half the defence stood strong. Shows the team has something to build on.

Not one to get carried away but I really like the look of piroe. Looks a really good player to me and he seems like he’s driven to make an impact at our club. I’m quite excited by him. What you reckon?

Coming after a bad home defeat, and taking everything inot account , missing players etc, despite RM saying hes unhappy, I think the boys did well, and deep down so does RM.
Still work to do, but a bit happier tonight, the Captain Morgans going down quite nicely

You can't be entirely passive. Once control of the game switches to the oppo it's very hard to get it back. Better to stay largely on the front foot.

Control of the ball always has to be allied to the will to do something with it otherwise you're just going to get bullied out of games, a lesson Cooper never learned.

Hopefully a few will be back for next week at Preston, our first game this season, can't bloody wait🍺🍺🍺🦢🦢🦢😁😁😁
