21/22 The Official Derby County vs Swansea City Match Thread

My biggest frustration with that game was keeping zero goals zero assists Smith in an attacking midfield position until the 86th minute
We broke the first line so many times for Smith to pass it straight on back into traffic

two absolute sitters again is disgraceful. Cullen is a f*****g embarrassment

Cullen should of gone out on loan, he's not good enough at the moment and why he's getting in ahead of Whittiker is baffling, Martin wants to be careful because the fans will give him time but not forever and he'll run out of excuses soon.

Same shit, half paced, no energy or desire, against Cardiff and he’ll find out soon enough.

I thought we played pretty well today. No chance of us scoring mind but still.

Dear Russell

Can I see us score some goals please? Would be awfully nice if you could organise it.

Regards

legoman

P.s. we're playing Cardiff soon, old son. Just saying

The back 3 + 2 midfielders showed up well. Created enough. Kept it going for 90+ minutes. Got a result. I am good with that.

I agree about Whittaker the only downside for me.

The one positive is that we’re starting to look comfortable playing out from the back. It was the playing of short sideways passes in the final third and nobody making runs off the ball to get behind the defence that did my head in.

Think this is just proving how little xreativity we have in the squad, from the start only having one real attacking player (Piroe) on the pitch we were always going to struggle to score.
We've lacked any threat from Latibaudiere and Bidwell and without Ntcham in the middle.

Still a work in progress and one that desperately needs more depth and creativity. As much as I'd like Cullen etc to do well maybe a loan move would be better.

Except our only dangerous player is no longer on the pitch because (sense of humour failure) some total asshole took him off when we needed more, not less attacking threat. That was two point chucked away. An easy two points, by the way we played, by the manager. That is simply a statement of what I saw today. Other opinions are available

I think we struggled again with fitness, not having any threat we can bring on and i know people are banging on about Whittaker but truthfully he also isnt anywhere near the level of Piroe.

If we want results we have to play Piroe, Ntcham, Laird and Obafemi. As seen today with 3 missing we could not even put away that dreadful Derby side.

In my opinion we need at least 3 new players to come in, probably hampered by having RM come in so late otherwise im sure we would as he cannot be happy with some of the current squad either.

Frustrating point, the team is screaming for a no 10. Never looked like losing so i agree changes should of been made earlier and Walsh should of come on. Our players need to take a bit of responsibility to, make that forward run or have a pop at goal.

If we can keep getting these clean sheets I'm sure the wins will come. Its like the Martinez days where if we didn't score early you knew the opposition would just sit in their half.

Any team with Korey Smith in an advanced midfield role is going to struggle. Lati was poor, Laird wasn't much better. Grimes was woeful I thought. There was a telling moment in the second half - Grimes had the ball and there was a player free in the centre outside the box. As KOL said in commentary, "he wasn't able to execute" - because the ball was on his right side and he only has a left foot. Our "playmaker" is slowing us down. In the end, too many safe passes, when Derby were there for the taking. We need Ntcham back quick.

we played well, which is where the frustration lies. the sitters from bidwell and cullen were inexcusable, professional footballers and cant score from 5 yards out? Cullen is a striker apparently. fuck my eyes

we would be top half if we had sold grimes and brought in fosu.

My worry is that our key players look as thought they'll be out of the squad as much as they are in it... I could be wrong but I get the feeling that obi and ntcham are fairly injury prone... If this is the case then we'll struggle this season. I hope I'm wrong.

We'd be top half if we'd sold Grimes and played anyone with two feet in that role (except Smith, obvs).

Grimes was quality again today. Best player.
