Remember the last 2 or 3 seasons in the Premier league where we got progressively worse and eventually relegated? The trends and patterns are very similar here in the championship.

Players trying to play an alien way with flaws and unnatural to them. Conceding stupid goals, dropping points with late goals. The occasional horror show and the odd dicking l. An annoyed negative fan base with stubborn, prickly coaches who refuse to change as the ego won't let them. Chopping and changing players every season while defaulting to players with poor substitutions when on positions to pick up points.

Next to happen will be players looking half arsed.

Make no mistake, we are in a relegation battle already. Anyone think we have the squad with the guts for that? I don't.

Equaliser was a direct result of Fisher making a hash of clearing the ball. Put Kyle under pressure and conceded a free kick. Fisher is a,liability.

1-0 up late on away from home, take off your best and tallest Defensive midfielder and the player who has caused them the most problems. ????

Yep. I was screaming at him to just clear it, but he dithered. He had loads of time to deal with that. We still failed to close down the cross and challenge for the knock back, but we needn’t have even been defending balls into the box if Fisher had been decisive and cleared the danger. Surprise surprise, he’s a L1 keeper from L1.

Could someone please explain to this Russell Martin chap that the whole idea of the game is to put the round thingy in the net of the team you are playing against more times than they put it in yours....

Not sure if he's got it yet.

Just seen the equaliser, two players went out towards the player who put the cross in. Neither went to close him down. Criminal and comical defending

Honestly I think the problem is the coach.
We have a very good squad and people shouldn't forget that. RM was directly responsible for this one with his subs.

Problem is that is the way he is being told to play it, the fault lies more with RM for demanding that than with Fisher for making that play. I do agree though that if that went long it would have been a different story.

That's not one of the stats he looks at

Yeah spotted that, they just ran close to him then did a comedy jump, Stoke player had all day to put the cross in. We are doomed

Sorinola had to come off, he was blowing through his arse and had just been booked after being beaten for pace and pulling his man down.
I have to agree though, that Ncham, Pato and to a lesser extent Oba were all pretty poor when they came on. Ncham in particular doesn't seem to know the meaning of 'bust a gut'.

Absolutely 100% agree. The players in this squad need to be on the front foot. This slow, suicidal style is killing us. It gives the momentum to the opposition and they know they are never out of the game. We gift so many chances by giving the ball away, teams don't even need to create their own.

The longer this goes on, the harder it will be to turn the squad around and get out of trouble. There is literally zero benefit playing around at the back like we do. It doesn't suck teams in, it doesn't wear them down, it doesn't create space, it doesn't let us counter as we slow it down and wait for them to get back into position. All it does is make us weak and flawed. Even the opposition comms see it every week.

Oh I absolutely agree that Sorinola needed to come off because he was knackered, no arguments from me there. I was more referring to taking off the best player on the pitch and leaving an exhausted striker up top when we had plenty of fresh legs on the bench with both pace and creativity.

The point is he’s playing to orders as we’ve seen when Benda gets a game.

RM has to learn that there is plenty to be lauded for when distributing the ball well but there are times especially in the last 5 mins or a game or so when you just need to manage the game. If the ball is down the other end of the pitch they can't score, especially when Stoke looked like they couldn't score from open play if the game went on for 90 hours let alone 90 minutes.
