6 Clubs in the Play-Offs from Next Season 2026/27

You think the difference between a 3rd place team and an 8th placed team makes a promoted team being cannon fodder or not? Look at Burnley last year and how they are doing this year, same for Sunderland.

Do the same as me, rip your season ticket up if we get promoted after finishing eighth…
Fair points...but Sunderland built virtually a new team. Burnley had 100 points and are going back down. Cannon fodder for me is probably an understatement - rather an eighth team getting NUKED in the Prem. !! I'm talking Derby unwanted record stuff. To get a promotion I'd like us to be third at least, a strong foundation to have a decent bash up there. Yes relegation possible but without humiliation.

If be absolutely pig sick though if we finished third and the eighth team fluked a win in the 95th minute of the final, because of injuries, say, to our key players.

Finishing eighth and being promoted doesn't sit well with me is all. Even if it were us I'd dread the Premier step up ....cannon fodder . No thanks

And yes, people would say ..take the money . But where are Luton now !!
There's no difference I'm finishing third and losing to the team who finished sixth as it stands, that's life.

Finishing lower than third and getting promoted doesn't automatically mean become cannon fodder. In the past numerous clubs including ourselves have proved that if you get your recruitment correct there is absolutely no reason why you can't stay up.

You're kidding yourself if you'd be disappointed with fishing eighth and getting promoted.

It doest matter where you finished the previous season. It matters what you do in the summer when it comes to signing players.

Of course, I'd completely get caught up in the excitement, I'm a football fan...but the heart rules the head in those moments. My head now says a team finishing eighth will likely get nuked in the Prem. No thank you to the humiliation is all.

Not sure why you believe promotion means automatic humiliation.

Likely I said, not automatic. Bottom line I just don't favour the 7th and 8th change. Makes a mockery of merit. Money making. Why not down to 10th, usually only a few points off 8th. Just my view is all.

I hate to break it to you, the game has been ruined by money making for decades.

With the right manager and careful (and lucky) recruitment any club can survive upon promotion.
See Rodgers, Brendan and Swansea City.
We had a pretty decent team going up. Plus in the last 6 or so years the gap between Prem and Championship is HUGE
