6 Clubs in the Play-Offs from Next Season 2026/27

We really didn't know whether Ash, Leon, Nathan, Angel would make it in the Premier league. Rodgers put a system in place that gave them a chance to compete.
Our marquee signing was Danny Graham.
Getting us up and then keeping us up was Brendan's finest achievement.

A lot of that team which took us up took to the premier league like a swan to water.
They did and it was Rodgers' tactical approach that enabled it.
When we abandoned that approach they looked different players.

Exactly, he played to their strengths which is the complete opposite to the likes of Russell Martin.

The money involved now makes it a completely different ball game to when Tosh done it, as great an achievement it was mind. You can’t compare the two equally.
So here's another thought when talking equivalence.

Yes money wise different ball game between Premier and Division 1.

But how about a comparison between Tosh's Div 1 team and Brendan's Prem team.

I've seen both - and both were great. But if they played each other, I'd say the Tosh team would have edged it.

It's not realistically possible to compare different eras. The game in 1981 looks to be in slow motion compared to today.
It's better just to have enjoyed both at the time.

It's 1982 versus 2010. Not that far apart, not like looking at the 1950's def slow motion. Of course, yes, I loved both but it would have been a close (hypothetical) encounter. And btw Curt, Robbie, Leighton and Jimmy, just to mention a few, were hardly slow motion.

Having said that, slow motion reached a new level with Martin of course, give me the 50's over that crap any day

When we were promoted there was a good side ,
After Winning promotion the 3 key signings for me was Danny Graham centre forward who led the line scored goals .
Steven Caulker big Central defender to play alongside Ash .
Worm signed as Goalkeeper very late just before the season started .

Other players were signed who had played in the Premier League .

Modern days players are significantly fitter, faster, tactically better organised and technically sharper.

The speed, pressing and movement of the 2010 team would overwhelm the team from 1982 over a full 90 minutes.

What’s harder, a 147 in snooker or a 9 dart finish?

Imagine some of those from 82 in the modern era but with proper lifestyle, training, analysis etc. be worth a few bob some of them.

I wonder what the likes of Curt and Robbie James would be worth if they were playing today.

Yes I agree with first para. Not sure about overwhelm though 🤔

But pound for pound quality of players, I think the Tosh team just edges it over Brendan

But I count myself very lucky to have seen both. Plus the Laudrup team

Pace of the game and fitness levels of the modern day game would be fairly evident come the 90th minute.

Yes, but overwhelm is what I was querying. Though with Curt, Robbie, Leighton and Latchford in full flow first half, Tosh could well be 2 nil up 😊

Ok I'll go for 2-2 full time. Loved both teams 😍
