Benda

He was great today… hopefully that’s the last we see of Fisher for a while.

Claimed a few crosses and commanded his six yard box.
Two great saves, no pissing about at the back either.
Absolutely deserves to keep his place next game.

Team as a whole instructed to knock this suicidal stuff on the head, Russ’s job relied on it. Benda the better all round keeper at the moment has more of a presence.

He played some good hoof ball when required which is great when we're winning

I've always liked him. Has so much more presence for a start.

Capable of the odd blunder but they all are

Fantastic today. Calm and composed, which probably rubbed off the defence too. One thing to note, he doesn’t dally around and is not afraid to clear his lines. His distribution is considerably better than Fishers too,

A keeper who commands his box and can makes saves. Astonishing.

I’ve not been the biggest fan of Benda I’ll be honest, he’s made some howlers when he’s played, just as much as Fisher but somehow didn’t get the stick that Fisher does. Today though he was pretty much faultless, kicking was decent, no fucking about with it, some good saves, mostly dominated his area and came and collected crosses, taking pressure off the defence. Off today’s performance, he should be number 1 going forward.

You're not wrong to be fair. I think what pissed fans off more is Martin deciding to spend £400k of our meagre transfer budget on a player who doesn't seem any better than a keeper we already had in the squad.

I have said before that I felt that Benda was ahead of Fisher in all aspects of goalkeeping except for experience and based on today's performance it looks like he learned the lessons of watching Fisher play (both the pros and the cons) very well indeed.

This whole episode doesn't reflect well on Martin in my opinion. I think he may now have the slightly better goalkeeper in place in spite of his decision making.
Fisher made yet another mistake whilst playing to Martin's orders at Stoke and got dropped.
Benda benefits today from the change of orders so didn't risk the kind of mistake that Fisher made and that he's made in the past under Martin's previous orders.

Spot on, I’m sure Fisher wouldn’t have made the mistakes he has if he was instructed to lump it up the field instead of being told to play it short every single time. I do kind of feel for the lad, he’s been dropped, another keeper has come in, given different instructions and done very well. But then sometimes you’ve got to go against your instructions and just get rid of it, he didn’t do it against Stoke, we got punished and he’s lost his place. I’m sure if he had got rid of it and we came away from that game with 3 points, he would have started today. I’m looking forward to seeing how Benda fairs now moving forward.

Sorry don’t buy the Fischer just following orders. Needs to grow a pair if that’s the case. Good shot stopper but just doesn’t boss the box.
