Captain Grimes on his way to Coventry City?

I'm actually excited to see how we'll play without Grimes, because I cannot take a sideways pass any longer.
He’s good at what he does small simple passes with one foot, but he slows us down massively constantly see him telling the players to go slower waving his hand at the side.

Exactly, we're just so pedestrian against teams unless they really stand off us. I want to see our wingers run forward and through balls played.

A word of caution on the 'new start without Grimes' hope:

It is entirely reasonable to assume that our generally turgid style of play is entirely down to Luke Williams. I doubt Grimes and the players are disregarding Williams' tactical instructions. What we'll probably see on Saturday is Fulton stepping in and doing exactly the same things Grimes has been doing and the team will try and play the same way we always do.

Hopefully Williams sees this as an opportunity to reinvent himself and his approach and try something different, but we'll see.

This is my biggest fear. This slow and turgid football can’t continue with players even less capable of implementing it

Fulton will not do the Grimes role!

Surely not!?

The plus side is that if it is just as turgid with Fulton in there, at least we will have £4m to do something about it. Which we didn't have before.

Who do you think will play there on Saturday? or do you think Williams will risk a different tactical approach or formation (with what, 2 days of training behind it)? We'll see, but I would expect to see Fulton come in for Grimes and he'll try and keep some continuity in style, at least for this game. Long term, who knows.

I’m most excited not to have to see Grimes’ ridiculous beard again too - how hasn’t his friends or family told him how he looks is beyond me
Absolutely and living in Bishopston and having the delight of never seeing that stupid beard again in my daily life in the village has cheered me up no end. He ignores the neighbours so unlikely to be told that he looks like an overgrown gnome

Crossed my mind earlier that it might have been a case of one of them, and Williams maybe pitched an idea of a more attacking Swansea without Grimes in it.
Or Grimes was sick of Willyball, or the team was sick of Grimes, or the team was sick of Grimes and Willyball.

We'll see if there's a change in mentality on Saturday, and possibly more tellingly in the next away game. If they surrender again, it's Willy.

And also it's true to say that Fulton won't have the weird, mystical demi-god hold over everyone that Grimes had. If something isn't working, the manager might actually feel liberated to try something else rather than just having to play Grimes every minute of every game regardless as if there's just no possibility of doing anything differently.
