Captain Grimes on his way to Coventry City?

Yeah, but managerially that's like swapping syphilis for gonorrhoea.
Lampard may not be much of a manager, although he's probably better than ours, but he knows a bit about midfield and is far more likely to get more out of Grimes than Williams.

....and what does that tell us then!

I can see Grimes putting more of a shift in and performing well under Lampard. New Club, New Manager and working under guidance from Lampard. But a player doesn't suddenly become world class. Not saying that you said he would be world class. But he will slip back into his ways. He won't be playing every game that's for sure. And I wonder how is ego will take that.

Yeah there’s no way he’ll have him playing centre back like ours has. I will give a cursory glance to see how he plays him, I nealy typed I’d be interested to see. But I’m definitely not.

Lampard will want a more mobile inclusive role out of Grimes, be interesting to see how long it will be before he gets injured

I am, as it's always intrigued me what our managers might have done with him since Potter and a brief golden spell under Cooper. I don't wish him any ill. If he makes a go of it fair play, it doesn't change my view that he was killing us.

It may never come out, and probably for the best, but I’ll just say players get togethers / charity work / donations / hospital visits / the list is long.

Those that think the players are shunning him just because of the timing of this move, are massively mistaken.

There’s a lot of “reading between the lines” going on the past week, which is mostly wide of the mark.
Yet another entirely out of touch, is so many ways. You truly have no clue

I am one of the few that actually seems to rate Grimes as a footballer… but can also see why people are frustrated with him.

I’m actually excited, maybe more intrigued actually, as to what a Grimesless Swansea looks like.
You're absolutely spot on. The vast majority of proper Swans fans 'get' Matty. Just like your fellow media colleagues who watch the game with proper perspective.

In the same way managers, pundits, fellow pros and now England's all-time leading midfield goal scorer in Lamps, 'get' Matty. And Lamps has most certainly 'got' Matty in a proper statement of intent for him and for Matty who will most certainly now kick on and play in the more advanced Hoddle role and live up to the 'next Glen Hoddle' accolades he received when playing through England youth/U21 ranks.

This thread has yet again shown up in glaring bright lights who the perennial football stooges are. The ones who have clearly never played the game at a half decent level - a handful of proper non-football types. The shouty online minority sheeple who love a flock mentality moan from under their collective fleece of inadequacy.

Overall for Matty and the Club - an excellent move, in so many ways right now :

- for Matty to kick on to his natural next level, there's no doubt Lamps will nurture him into the Glen Hoddle he was always touted to be
- a prescient move by our new, new owners releasing Matty from the uber restrictive golden handcuffs - a proper dose of goodwill at the right time for our Club, fair play
- the opportunity to leverage real value from our premier MVP to reinvest in the new global sourcing model and unearth yet more proper far-flung gems
- the opportunity for one of our new proper new gems to step up and emulate Matty's pivotal contribution both at the center of the park and as El Capitan and talismanic leader
- the sure-fire solution to expedite Willy Out - Matty saved Martin, and has been saving the Willy for far too long now. Not even Matty's broad shoulders should have to carry that massive burden for so long

Time to get the popcorn out here - the next few games without Matty and ofc the rest of the season will be highly entertaining box office viewing - we'll all be praying and hoping for the best and proper fans will no doubt be planning for the worst with the stark reality of life after Matty........... squeaky bum time.......

..Today was the very best example of what life without Matty looks like- and it’s not a good look, 👀 in so many ways

If he is the dogs danglers like you make him out to be, why has it taken ten years for another club to come in for him?

Let's remember the club that did are Coventry and not Chelsea.

This is outstanding work.

Why did our record spending, high profile team of executives at the helm of the club decide to sell him then?
