Cashless payments

Itchysphincter said:
Well I still think the bloke had a point but his attitude was a bit OTT.

….. and I’m no conspiracy nut but I do think cashless does slowly siphon money out of the population’s pocket.

But it is convenient.

I see you are warming slightly to him now. :D

I wouldn't like to question his attitude with regards to the shop staff.. His engagement with them verbally seemed perfectly polite.

Loads of things, little things pee me off, but I wouldn't have the balls to something like he did, for fear of getting in trouble, although I can understand if someone has one of those Falling Down moments. If something is cheesing you off, highlight it, I think it's a lot better than bottling it up, and feeling frustrated.

Hmm, you are correct, bit gutted to be honest, initially when i read that, I thought you have to be wrong, yet I have looked up the definition of it, and it seems that even if you believe a conspiracy theory, you then become a conspiracy theorist according to the Cambridge dictionary.

Although I would question that, who actually thought of that, it doesn't make sense, like I would say David Icke is a conspiracy theorist, yet according to Cambridge dictionary, you are as well if you agree with anything he says.

So you could sit down in your house one day, and decide the moon landing was fake, you then according to Cambridge Dictionary, are now a conspiracy theorist, ha ha utter rubbish.
If you believe in conspiracy theories you’re a conspiracy theorist. Would have thought that was obvious? I don’t mean it as an insult anyway, just a description. I enjoy a conspiracy theory myself. But I enjoy the people who swear by them even more.

No, no it's fine, I did not take it as insult. Just seems kind of strange how the dictionaries decided that, before looking at the definition, I would have thought a conspiracy theorist was someone who does their own research, and sort of like be the first one to say something is not right, with that. A bit like David Icke did back years ago, he was everywhere saying stuff, that's what I thought was a conspiracy theorist. Yet now, if you agree with it, you are as well. Which I must say, seems kind of odd.

I knew I was right, just checking the Cambridge dictionary and their definition of a theorist is someone who develops ideas about the explanation for events: Now a conspiracy theorist is this, someone who believes in a conspiracy theory (= the idea that an event or situation is the result of a secret plan made by powerful people):

So they are wrong, basically I would say a lot wrong, how can a theorist be someone who develops ideas about the explanation for events, yet a conspiracy theorist is someone who believes the ideas the theorist has, it's just absolute poppycock.

My opinion remains as it was. 👍

Oh ok then. But from your initial post calling the fella a pillock, it seems the last post you slightly downplayed your initial post. You slightly down tempered it, expecting nobody to notice, well I did.. You are Welcome.

It’s all there. No editing, nothings changed. I told you yesterday that if I wanted to be offensive I would have chosen a stronger word than pillock, and I only asked if anyone knew the pillock to see if it was one of the posters on here. Nothing more.

Check the rest of by the thread of the one on Keith’s board and you’ll find that my pejorative is mild by comparison.

Now, whilst you’re in the dictionary mood look up ‘irony’ and think again when whining and bawling about your posts being scrutinised. 👍

….. and stfu.

:D You header.. ha ha do you really expect me to believe that?, without tracking back you said something like 'Does anyone know this pillock', But now it turns out you were just enquiring if he posted on here?

Like I said earlier, from my observations and what you posted recently, you have certainly downgraded your initial contempt for the man, so I think why would that be? Is it a fact, that you have seen the rebuttal of the chap denying that he did not abuse the club shop staff.

What is a pillock in British slang?
pillock (plural pillocks) (UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, derogatory, slang) A stupid or annoying person; a simpleton; a fool.

This sums up about 99% of the members of this forum of a weekend...
As you were .

Nope, you’ve downgraded your interpretation, not surprising being as I explained it to you several times. Read what I posted, not what you want to see.

Anyway, are you going off on one again? I definitely don’t want to do this again right now, early start.

No I am not going off one one. Just stating the obvious from what you said, that's all. You have gone from 'anyone know this pillock'? acting like Jean Claude Van Damm, too only asked if anyone knew this pillock in case he posted on here.

Can you understand my confusion?

On your own there pal, but acknowledging your confusion is probably a good first step. 👍

Let me know if there’s anything I can do. PM is fine again.

As someone who hasn't fallen down the rabbit hole of believing in every conspiracy theory going, and who isn't self employed and likely to lose out financially to what seems like the phasing out of cash, having a cardless policy would be far more of a pain in the arse for me than a cashless one, I have to be honest. I don't always carry cash, but I always carry a phone, well I have to if I want to get into the stadium don't I.

At the end of the day, it reduces the likelihood of robberies and people having their hands in the tills, it saves money for the banks, it saves money for the government from having to print less cash and create less coins and that's before we get to the main reason, the additional revenue they'd make from reducing the amount of services paid for that don't go through the books. These are the reasons it's being pushed on us not some batshit crazy conspiracies. And as much as it pains me to help out the banks and the government, it's bloody well handy, and not getting triggered by it helps me not to get a choronary. Although if you believe twitter, there is no such thing as heart attacks being caused by unhealthy lifestyles and high blood pressure, it's all down to the vaccines innit!
