Grimes

Those that slag off Matty, don't get football, and clearly have absolutely no comprehension of playing CM to a decent level.

Comedy gold how the usual suspects (fatboy Jobsworth, most notably) are consistently showing themselves up for knowing naff all about football. And all the meek sheeple pile on in, as per. Take a step back sheeple, watch, think and 'see' for yourselves instead of the twp eyes wide shut of the herd.

Best CDM in the league, leads by example, Chief Exec of on-field strategy and tactics, leader of men (and properly dishes it out in training where he sets the example), the go-to calm, assured, intelligent Warburtonesque leader at all times - ask anybody currently (and previously) invested - players, managers, owners, staff, informed fans.......

Look across all Swans SM - the twps slag him off, the footballing intelligentsia sit back, enjoy and applaud our last remaining thread to our famed Swansea way.

Poor, cringe thread, in so many ways.
The problem with the Swansea way is that most teams have worked out how to counteract it. Football continually evolves, we have even evolved. There's no room for sentiment.

You make an excellent point Smurf. In so many ways.

Matty was ofc an England International when penned in as the next Glen Hoddle. 16 England appearances at U21 level.

Matty shrugged that off and found his natural place as #1 CDM, in Swansea way down by the sea. The natural born leader to the ageing, spent Leon.

We should count our lucky stars 'n stripes.
It's a shame he's not South American. I can just imagine him playing alongside the likes of Messi

The thing is Coops, the Swansea way is our heritage, our identity, our edge.

The very clever edge that 95% of clubs failed to recognise and in fact chose to diss, at their expense - and our gain for many years.

Some of us have been inculcated in the Swansea way and know that way is the right way, for us.

Long may Matty reign, and fly our flag.

I was taking this post seriously, until you came up with the statements ‘best CDM in the league’ and ‘leader of men’.
Either you’re living in cuckoo land or you’re Matts mother.
Because he is neither of the two.
As it happens, the footballing intelligentsia didn't take your nonsense attention seeking thread seriously.

But we had to comment to right the wrongs, in so many ways.

NB - check out the most vociferous clowns on this thread - fatboy Jobsworth and Knobb Hill - without doubt the very twpest football posters with the loudest voices, yet the most shallow, uninformed, cheap shot contributions imaginable, always. All just for effect - and the twpest of sheeple follow.

Try harder next time, Terry.

I'll chuck my two bobs worth in. I actually agree, IN PRINCIPLE, that Grimes is the best footballer at SCFC. He was the major cog in getting to the play offs twice. He is the best passer at the club (not on about statistics now).
HOWEVER, he is playing in the wrong position and has been since Martin arrived. If he played centre midfield as the playmaker he would thrive. He would go to looking forward again. If we insist on this very defensive midfielder it should be Fulton or Franco or Allen. His mantra should be look forward.
To finish, I would always pick Grimes. But as the number 10. He's got a great shot, he's a great passer and he has vision. Just not as a DM.
As for captain, I'd be looking at Darling.

Fair play Neatho8 - breaking away from the herd of twp Grimes bashers. It's a good start.....

We cannot possibly swap Matty from the CDM role - he's the league's finest in that space, he's our captain and leader and thus takes full responsibility for executing the game plan from that deep lying anchor.
With Cabungle at the back he has no other option than to cover for and negate our Bungling soft spot.

Franco has the intelligence, bite and dog to get up and down ahead of Matty. P-H can fill that Pato space ahead, with a sprinkle of youthful EPL spunk and guile.

As for El Capitan, think Grimes, think Warburton.

Roughly translated as :

- Martinwang was a proper waste of space and one of our biggest let downs who mugged off nigh on all of our twpest fanboys, to this day.

- Cooperball wanged Martinball 9-2 with proper effective, efficient winning footy.

Have the courage of your convictions - say it how it is, fella.
I said it exactly as it is to me thanks fella. Cooper's football was effective but awful to watch and after two seasons we were still in the same division and he was desperate to go elsewhere (not that I particularly blame him for that). Martin came in and proved to be a bit shit.

I'm sure someone else will do better at identifying your previous username(s), I'm crap at that sort of thing.

Cooper delivered ++ He got the very best out of our talented assets.
Did you think Cooper's efficient, effective and uber entertaining mega thrusting football at Forest was awful to watch ?

You sound ever so entitled and a tad plastic.

Martinwang proved to be a complete and utter shite fest of a disaster in comparison. The very worst thing that's happened to our Club in yonks. A spiteful raging fraud.

He's only the league's best in that position because no other team uses such a wasteful position. Any further back and he may as well go in goal.
We'll agree about his skills but we'll have to disagree about his position.

Andy Cole.

Andy Cole.
Whomever it is, they are clearly a lunatic.

Using unnecessary flamboyant words, trying to impress, and writing posts as if they're narrating a sky sports advert, just leads me to think they're trying bit too hard to get a rise.

If you add that to calling Grimes a "Leader of Men", when he's our most cowardly player, that hides as far back as possible (done it under the last 3 managers, so unlikely tactical) whenever we need someone to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, something which he has never done..... just suggests this poster is on a wind up.

On the Ignore list they go.

Grimes would struggle with the physicality of playing 10 . He doesn't relish the battle and hides in our back four. How many consecutive games has he played with no injuries now?... his self care comes before leading the side and playing further up the field. Not to mention the walking tempo aspect.

I'd say that's just a vision of how we've seen him for the last 4 years. Personally I'd like him in the middle of a 442. However, 442 is not "cool" these days. They all want to play with stupid systems
