He's the least specialised dead ball specialist I've ever seen. Whenever he takes one we all know it's going feckn nowhere.

If this manager cannot see that he should not be the manager.

Three managers cannot be wrong about him
Or can they ?
He makes elementary mistakes, same as other players, no more no less.
Difference is any other player would be subbed or dropped
He is our equivalent of The Emporor's New Clothes for me.
The manager and staff ( and previous incumbents ) cant see it.

If Matthew Grimes’s mother had not have gone on Twitter chopsing about the Swans when he went off on loan to dirty Leeds we wouldn’t be having these threads every week. His card has been marked and that’s all there is to it. Every decent team needs a player in the Grimes role. Should he take free kicks and corners? Probably not, but in his position there is no one better at the club.

I had completely forgotten that she'd even done it. Suspect most people either don't know or care. It's his performances that generate threads like this, or probably more accurately, the fact that he's guaranteed a place in the team regardless of how bad those performances can get.

I didn’t know anything about that. I think he’s just a standard championship player and that Downes looks a lot better and is being held back by us being unable to experiment with him in different roles because Grimes is always there. I don’t think Grimes is as good or bad as he’s painted. Sometimes he has excellent games, sometimes he stinks, but mostly he does what he does competently and there is no mystery about that, so managers know what they are getting and always pick him.

I would like him not to be captain and us to find a better dead ball exponent, and then I would like to see us experiment with and without him. Impossible now with his bumper new contract after we had to “convince” him to sign it, of course. He’s there for the duration, captain and dead ball ‘expert’. I’ve no real animosity towards him, but that’s a restriction on our options.

You might have forgotten but that is when when the negativity and anti Grimes rhetoric started. Other players would be praised for efficiency he shows. Not sure he should be captain but it's not my call, nothing wrong with him as a footballer though.

Get's caught in possession time and time again. We as a club should be looking for more than 'competent' or 'adequate' from our captain ffs

It's time our talisman Grimes is Unleashed, again.

We need him more and more in the red zone, driving the initiative deep into the final third where we need him most..Trouble is, he's the best CDM in this league, so a young manager like Martine with such a defensive bias, will always want him controlling and protecting from deep.

Grimes deserves far better anchors than we have in Smith and Downer.

Let's hope Martin looks wider and deeper than MK Dons for that anchor.

Do you have alzheimers as you keep peddling the same trite banal shite and get schooled every time.

Im gutted you never made the game on Saturday as you would have seen downes outplay your shooting in piece 10 times over.

Additionally, he still can't help himself..."Martine" & "Downer".

The man(?) is a complete fuckwit with the flash to bang time of an Eon

Andy Cole is brilliant.. his catchphrases crack me up..

Sheeple
Unthinking
Red Zone

He's a bit like a Bible basher who goes against ordinary people because they're "unbelievers".. there's got to be a video like a Monty python, dad's army sketch?

He's such a specialised dead ball specialist, that we're the only team in the Championship NOT to have scored from a set piece!!

It is probably just his surname.

A bit like Gower who had an area of outstanding natural ability.

As has been mentioned, worst set piece taker I’ve ever seen at the swans. To my recollection, I don’t think he’s ever scored directly from a free kick has he?
