Have taxi etc fares gone up as it takes longer to travel?

Have bus timetables been altered?

There’ll definitely be some profiteering by some of the back of this. Although with the price of fuel again lately I’d imagine they’ll be putting their fares up anyway.

Not often, but they could get held up by tailbacks due to all traffic at 20MPH.

Extreme cases of less cars going through traffic lights etc.

Here's a reply from a councillor Peter Black concerning misleading signage ...


"Just an update on signage. I spoke to an officer today. There 3000 signs to be removed or erased to conform with the new regulations. They were only able to deal with 600 of them over the weekend, fewer than anticipated due to the weather. They are hoping to deal with the rest over the next fortnight. My advice is that if a road is signposted as 30mph then it would be difficult to penalise you for doing 30mph. Hopefully, this bizare regime will settle down in due course."

I like Peter Black, but I notice the words he uses there' it would be difficult to penalise you', which for me say's he's not 100% sure!

Personally, I would not take the risk if I was in doubt, rather than arguing the toss and risking points.

My father (who is of the same political leaning as you) was one of the most experienced traffic officers in swp during the 80's, 90's and 00's. He disagrees with this blanket ban as he attended VERY FEW fatalities in 30 mph areas (which were not caused by speeders).

The senedd debated a petition where they asked the creator to stop as it had reached the threshold. They then totally dismissed it without any real debate. There was even an earlier review put out by labour themselves, to about six thousand people where the results came back as 65% against. A senedd member (can't remember who) dismissed this as non-representative; their own poll!

The new petition is now above 325,000 signatures. There's probably not that many Tories in the whole of Wales, so some other party supporters must be voting, like all of my colleagues in Llanelli who are dyed in the wool labour voters.

I don’t think the view on this has split along party lines at all, there are plenty of both Labour, Tory and other voters who are vehemently opposed to it. My own view is that I don’t care all that much. I knew it was coming, I knew it was in the manifesto and as I said above it didn’t influence my vote either way. I think the reaction to it has been a hysterical overreaction though.

Though of course there's no need to increase taxi fares (rates?) if they're metered. They'll just be higher by the time they reach their destination.

I bumbled through the Bont today at 20, all the way from King Chippy to the Shell garage lights and loved it, listening along to classic Pink Floyd..!..dunno why the fella in the big van behind was right up my arse, swerving all over the road and flashing his lights...he seemed to have no patience whatsoever..!

The only thing I would question is that it was in the manifesto. 20 mph in residential areas is what was suggested and that is way too vague as opposed to the default speed limit. Most of us acknowledge that 20 mph is sensible in places and that vagueness is what those who actually read that in the manifesto may have thought the party were alluding to. If the party had stated that the default speed limit was going to be 20 mph then organisations would have been highlighting that and making the facebook public aware.
