I thought I was dreaming the 20mph limit

Just been up to our Capital City, have to say the signing was spot on, new repeaters on 30 roads. Very clear no problems.Any idea what youd do when there are 30 and 20 signs next to each other on the same street?

A lot of Cardiff have had 20mph limits in place for a long time, I'm often there for work.

Can't imagine you'd encounter that scenario often, but i would go 20mph, guaranteed no speeding fine then.

Aye, it poor though, dont you think, signing has never been, nor ever should be a guessing game, they are vitally important to direct and inform road users, and are legally enforceable. You have to get it right, it's their job.

J2J makes a good point, local authorities are responsible for signage nor the government

The Senedd has debated this issue a number of times. Even passed a law. Most of the opposition voted for it, despite what they’ll have you believe now. Why anyone thinks another debate will change anything is beyond me.
I understand what you say as the Senedd is full of C list politicians who have failed in the top tier and are trying to look important on our soil. I ask, however, what are people supposed to do? At least these get a debate (which will change nothing now) and it will become clearer as those debates get closer to polling day. I have Centre Left views but will encourage people to vote out politicians who clearly ignore the views of the majority of the population.

Do these petitions actually ever end up changing any laws?

Hey I’m not knocking it, if people want to sign an online petition and if the Senedd wants to have another debate it’s all good with me, none of my business. I’m just managing expectations, having dealt with a fair few of these petitions in my time I’m almost 100% confident that this one will have same effect on policy as all the others, whether Welsh, U.K. or Scottish governments (cos they all have these petitions). None.

Yes of course it's poor, the local councils have had more than enough time to get their signage sorted. Not seen any examples of this myself mind, and can't imagine it's widespread or anything.

Not in my experience, no. Petitions can’t change laws, legislatures can. Fact is this was in the Labour manifesto for the last Senedd elections. It was also in Plaid’s. I knew it was there, but I’m one of those weirdos who tends to at least skim read these things. It had no influence on how I voted. If there’s a lesson here for people it’s know what you’re voting for before you decide. I’ve very little sympathy for those who complain after the fact. Whether they like it or not the Welsh Government has a democratic mandate for this and those who don’t like it can register their distaste at the next election. I would be absolutely amazed if the Welsh Government changed this policy cos of the pressure from an online petition only three days after it was introduced. It would show incredible political weakness and they won’t do it. There’s a reason they’ve introduced this now, the next Senedd elections are three years away. By then people will be so used to it they won’t care and it won’t influence many votes. I’m also one of the apparent very few people who don’t think this is such a terrible idea anyway. :D

Went out on sunday only an hour in the car there and back, saw three examples of misleading signage, including one sign which had not had the black tape removed, I'm not on FB, but the missus said more examples of poor/ misleading signing had been posted. Its simply not good enough.

As an aside I’ve just read some people commenting on the proposed reform of the Senedd. It astonishes me how people can read something and spectacularly fail to understand it.

Have you complained to your council? I’ve got an app in my phone called fix my street, you take a photo of what it is that needs sorting and off it goes to them. I’ve never used it mind but know people that have.

36 more bodies for the Welsh Tax Payer to fund to the value of 12million quid, when that money could be far more wisely spent, its the policy of a madman and his cronies.

Has it worked?

Drakeford now wants another 36 WAG members to boost his power trip and satisfy his ego before he stands down .

Have signed the petition for any good it will do ,our Welsh leader lives in the Dark Ages , saddle up Hercules .

His appalling legacy will be to me , development of Sophia Gardens for a T20 bit of fun , bailing out Glamorgsn CCC , added to
sparkling new Stadiums , Millenium and Legoland , total redevelopment of Docks , now Cardiff Bay Marina .

Swansea has no investment in electrification of the railway , access to our tourism hotspots is plagued by traffic lights , road works and speed traps , maybe Cardiff sees us as a Student City , not worth the effort .

Glad to see the end of him , I did not vote for a Welsh Assembly devolution back in 1997 either .
Chuck in the disrepair and neglect of St. Helens too , any help there from Cardiff , thought not .

Swansea City v Leeds United
