Yes. Why 'make a joke' at all, unless you follow it up with...'look there's no truth in this and I couldn't be happier about where I am now'. Saying 'they wouldn't want me after seeing that' but expecting us to still employ him is hardly a joke anyway. The performance...now that was a real joke.
 
One explanation for this: Several times I have thought LW just flaps his jaw "stream of consciousness" style and this WBA possible opportunity was what was in his mind at that moment. The words didn't mean very much, just an unguarded babble about a possibility that that had come up and he was giving a little thought to. Or not.
