New Manager

Now I wasn't making out we should have pissed it but we went down with a whimper in the battle for the top 2. I think another January let down had a big play in it with rumours of Cooper not being happy with lack of strengthening and bringing in 2 Americans along with Hourihane.

The final itself, it was a non event and even leading up to it seemed a pointless game that many of us expected nothing from.

Norwich and Watford got promoted that season, we beat both teams at home that season and drew with Brentford in both our league games that season.

Healthy debate, keeps the forum ticking over.

Not as if the rumors are swirling with any potential managers spotted outside Rossi's.
That’s an excellent point, in so many ways.

The modern day forum isn’t a simple, extended WhatsApp group of mates that always agree with one another like sheeple, and then bully folks with the audacity of having an alternative view.

Which Ofc is why this forum is head ‘n shoulders the place to be - for the discerning fan and for the Club who always tune in, by all accounts

Sheezy confirmed until international break according to Vincent.

Looks like Sheehan wants it permanently this time. Red flag.

We can't afford to take another risk given our current situation. The next appointment carries immense pressure to succeed, not only because of our position as a club, but also due to the financial implications both on and off the pitch

Every single managerial appointment any club ever makes is a risk. I hope this time we mitigate the risk by not giving a lower league chancer cretin a three year guarantee. If the appoint Sheezy it should be a short contract. IMO, given the odds, we’d be better off eating no compensation received for losing a success than paying off yet another failure.

I don't see any red flag just yet.

If he gets players performing again like they did against Blackburn on a consistent basis then I wouldn't be opposed to him being offered a longer term opportunity.

Man showing career ambition shocker saying he would be interested in a conversation if the possibility of a promotion looks possible

At least 4 more games should be until the end of the season.
We should, though, be scouring the market at the same time so that if it's not Sheedy, the new appointment is in place ASAP after the end of the season to have a say on the retained list and summer recruitment.

I don't blame Sheehan at all for wanting the job. The red flag for me is whether the owners see this as a come and get me and appoint him. We have to resist this temptation even if he has a few decent results.

I recall that he wasn't interested in the job last time permanently.

I think he’s done his UEFA Pro Licence since last season, I’m sure Coventry were lightly linked to him as well before they went with Lampard.

Interesting he says they’d need a chat first and make sure everyone is on the same wave length and change would be needed, I guess he means in terms of structure at the club and his play style etc.

And how do you respond if "a few decent results" means he wins all the other games preceding the international break, how do you respond if all of those games were performances that left a feel good factor about the team in the same way that the Blackburn game was?

Am I saying that he will sweep all before him and crush every side that takes to the field against us? No. But making a judgement negatively after one game is just as absurd as rushing to make a judgement positively. He basically has what can be looked reasonably as an "audition" where he will have been in charge of the side for a month give or take by the time the international window ends.

Seeing how he has influenced the players, how the atmosphere on the training ground is and how that translates on the pitch will all be critical parts of said audition just as much if not more so than any conversation or interview.

No way should we appoint Sheezy before the end of the season.

Even in the highly unlikely event that he goes an unbelievable run of 4 wins on the bounce the club should still resist. I don't think we can afford to appoint a first time manager. The honeymoon period will end.

I very much doubt any other championship club would appoint him manager. The chasm between Sheehan and Lampard in profile and wages suggests to me he was never in contention.

However, I can see him being given a chance at a lower league club and we shouldn't stand in his way if someone does come in for him. Maybe then down the line when he's had experience of being the number 1 somewhere else we could consider him for manager in the future (if successful).
