He's the only centre midfielder on the bench. When Franco has to go off injured, Fulton's the only option to bring on.
It’s obvious isn’t it. We’re still struggling to cobble together a squad after the disastrous tenure of Levien and Caplan, (un)ably assisted by Coleman. The last couple of years under them were disastrous - any decent players sold and utter crap brought in. It’ll take a while to build again.

That’s what I want to see, dominated the game and played with a style and system, should’ve won it but I’m not too bothered about that, it was the performance that mattered.

Did Lukey fist pump. Please say yes.
Not that I saw. Pleasant ground, pleasant bunch of fans, but I had forgotten that the bars are so small and basic. That combined with the number of away fans who seemed to be buying 12 pints every time slightly took the edge off the experience. But getting back to the game, the away support rocked (Sheehan very rarely gets a shout out these days though I notice) and we definitely should have had three points if not for a woeful refereeing performance. Encouraging signs for the rest of the season IMO. And good to see Idah take his first goal from open play.

Unfortunately, I can’t see us progressing under Sheehan. I think he made the right decision sticking with the five but then he leaves Widell and Inoussa out who were a large part of a decent performance against City. Just not creative enough and yes we want to be an adaptable team but there is no discernible style of play in any of our games.

His overall approach has been negative and I think we need someone a bit more forward thinking to progress as a side. Nothing against AS personally, he will always be remembered for that end of season run and 5 game winning streak but not the guy to take us forward in my opinion.

People seem to forget (ignore), the opposition today were sitting in 7th and have been playing well above expectations.

Very frustrating that game(another one).

Just a feeling that if we were a bit more positive then we would have come away with 3 points.
Only two shots on target again MD.

Good result but genuinely how long do we persist with this? Widdell not starting is a joke too

But we looked better again with it though. He's got to keep going with it. Key and Tymon are much happier in that formation, you can see it. I hope he doesn't abandon it.
I have to disagree, 80% of our game was hopeless long balls that came straight back at us from a similar side who were ill equipped to play any kind of passing game. I haven't seen the ball spend so much time in the air than old style Stoke vs Cardiff City

I have to think he wouldn't even be on the bench today if Yalcouye and Stamenic were both available.

We are currently:
24th for xg.
24th for big chances.
24th for touches in the opposition box.
22nd for shots on target per match.

You could make a very convincing argument that we are the worst attacking side in the division.

Idah's situation at the moment is a little like it was for Gomis when we signed him and kept Bony half a season longer than we expected to. Vipotnik is clearly the better striker at this time and so Idah looks a worse player than he probably is because we're comparing them.

I sincerely hope Vipi is back for Preston, but if not, it will be Idah's third successive start and so he should, theoretically, be ramping up his performances.
Good Analysis. Gomis comparison and Bony. As you said if VP doesn't start then Idah has to ramp up his performance as he is getting starts in matches now.

The tactics are squeezing the life out of me week by week. We are the most boring team in the league and the stats prove it.
