Big ask to win 5 in 7 in this league at any time, but if we can get a result on Thursday then we’re right back in the mix with the large group of ‘mid-table’ sides.

As others have said, it can’t be underestimated how important 2 wins against Oxford & 1 against Pompey have been, especially when you look at their other results in this period.

I accept both of them looked dire against us but that’s in no small part down to how we’ve set up - even if we haven’t been clinical in the final 3rd.

Great three points. Thank God for that. Really vital win.

Oxford are the worst team I think I’ve seen this season.

We could have easily thrown those points away tonight though, I mean, we created chances, but our finishing was unbelievably awful. We have to try to find a way to finish teams off as better teams than that (of which there are 22) would have punished us.

Agree as I’m sure would most reasonable people.

We’re an odd side - clearly we have better quality in most positions than a lot of teams we play, yet we struggle to get past them. Normally you’d point the finger at management but you can’t in this case. Also, our finishing may be poor but on the other hand we have one of the best finishers in the division, likewise the deliveries into the box from our attacking wide men are poor, yet for every Ronald failure to get a ball in you have Tymon or Galbraith sticking in a pearler, it doesn’t add up. Very odd, confidence and small adjustments could bring big rewards, just got to find the sweet spot.

We did, but we also had that run under Sheehan which looks a stretch for us this season.

I think we’ll be ok, but I’m always surprised by how quickly things can fall apart with a bad three games or so.

The main worry I have is that we are not picking up any points at all against teams around the top. Even Oxford have done that.

The point about falling apart is very true. I was shocked at how quickly it went belly up under Sheehan. Best not to be too confident I suppose, although I feel a lot happier than a month ago.

I said it earlier, I dread to think of what these boards would be like if we had lost the double header against Oxford this month. They would have been on 28 points and we would have been on 23

That would have been us in the relegation places

Now in 6th place in the form table with 9 from 5. If we kept this up til the end of the season we’d be on 69 points. Which was play-off standard last season.

To be clear, I am not saying that we are play-off quality (not now, at any rate). But the turn-around under Matos has been impressive and I don’t think it’s as fragile as some new manager bounce-backs we’ve seen.

I agree about Matos, he has done really well and got the team moving in the right direction.

It looks like we have a decent coach now and it's shows the squad is competitive, yes some changes/upgrades required, but the recovery is underway (long may it last).

It shows how poor Sheehan was and how influenced he was by O'dea (why didn't he keep the assistants from last season).

There’s a decent cushion down to Norwich whatever happens.

The only thing with that is that I remain convinced that Norwich will stay up pretty easily in the end. Maybe I haven’t seen them enough but I keep expecting them to start to put some results together.
