Lets take a moment and imagine a full house next Friday night. Would have been a real 'throw back'. Would have bouncing off the scale.
Hits home don't it.

If we're serious about promotion, we have to beat them and take home 3 points, as tough as it's going to be, we must beat them

I'm not actually disagreeing with you but if we therefore don't win on Friday are we not serious about promotion?

I genuinely think these games are over egged though in their full importance. A win is massive but I also understand why Cooper looks at them as a "must not lose" basis

That said we took the game to Norwich at Carrow Road, we could easily see the same at the Liberty. Shame there is no crowd, the place would be bouncing :(

Set up like we did against Reading and we'll have a good chance of picking up the 3pts, especially with their top player Buendia out of this match.

Good point.
Norwich will give us a bit more space to play but I think the ease of the Forest game led to overconfidence.
Looking at recent results we are quite even for points against a similar mix of teams.
Perform like we did against Brentford or Rotherham and it won't be pretty viewing.

Rotherham? Oh I don’t know. I’d be happy with three spectacular goals and let’s see what the Delias have got.

The goals were superb; the two long range shots were what we have been crying out for for at least three seasons, but they were just about the only 3 flowing moves we produced in the game. I think that is what I find so annoying - the team can play that wonderful and effective football and with some planned substitutions could take advantage of tired opposition in the latter stages of games. Obviously not for 90 minutes or for every games but it should be the norm rather than the exception.
Brentford have overtaken us in GD and given we scraped a play off place last season by 1 goal should we not be looking to dominate .. at home .. to relegation opposition.
Had Brentford been a little more clinical we could have been Wycombe! And, we are not going to get away with performances like that or v Rotherham very often.
Thankfully our defence is incredible.

It really hurts you to see us 2nd in the league doesn't it?

We won 3-1 (away) at the weekend in a professional performance where we were never threatened strongly other than a short period at the start of the second half (granted which they scored in) and have 50 points from 26 games.

Our points per game run rate is enough to earn automatic promotion at the end of the season should we continue on it (and there is nothing to suggest that we won't) and we continue to win all these games where we supposedly are not playing well.

I hate to tell you that you cannot expect the opposition to roll over every week and similarly sometimes you have to contain the threats that the opposition have as much as ensure that our own threats do what they are capable of. Exctly what we did on Saturday.

Enjoy the ride, we have a good team and a good manager who is getting better results out of this team then many could. And bringing in some top quality players into the bargain.

Smile and enjoy. It isn't necessary to criticise all the time

Just hope Ben can keep Fatboy Holt quiet!

Appropriate you mentioned him on deadline day - how many times was he signing for us before we remembered he hated the Welsh?

Yes I really, really do hate being second when we have shown we can be good enough to be top,

ps
A rather bitchy response to a comment that had nothing to do with league position!

To be fair you invite that kind of reply with your negativity over everything however I am happy to apologise for it being that way.

Saturday was an excellent win against an in form side - read the comments of Paul Warne after the game in the matchday thread, worth reading his view.

We can be good enough to be top. So can Norwich, Bournemouth, Watford and Reading. But only one side can be at any given point in time.

50 points from 26 games is good enough right now to be 2nd and that kind of run rate is likely to be good enough after 46 games.

Some very good points there

Run rate good enough for last season but not good enough for the preceding 6 seasons before that.

We have a run rate of 1.92 per game which sees us on track for 88 points. Only twice in the past ten seasons would that have not been enough. Not sure what stats you are looking at?

The two years are 2017/18 where 89 points were needed and 15/16 where 91 would have been needed (or the same points with a better goal difference)
