Summer Transfer Window

We made a lot of signings in that 2023 summer that are still negatively affecting us now. This has a similar feeling to me although I honestly know nothing about him and have not seen him play. Unsure

I'd rather have genuine competition for positions than a back up. Widely seen as not Championship level and we get caught up in these type of signings that go nowhere.
Seeing that he's never played in the Championship and been in the league one team of the year 3 years in a row I very much doubt the reliability of the view that he's not Championship level. I've seen comments from Bolton fans who rate him. It shouldn't be forgotten that Bolton just had a poor season, so the perceptions of fans, which are volatile at the best of times, are going to be skewed as a result.

This would be a Pedersen/Christie/Delcroix replacement, who hopefully would rarely play. Remember we made a loss of over £15 million last season despite making a profit on player sales of £4.5 million. We'll be struggling to break even as it is, so we will need a few free transfers and loanees to supplement the Inoussa type top dollar signings.

If we've got to sign from the lower leagues, I'd rather sign up and coming than over the hill.

I get your points but not this player. Not a fair comparison

Christie(829 mins)/Pederson(0 mins) Premiere Lge players down grading a division through age
Christie covering all defence positions. RB, CH and LB which he did at Derby I think. Hence 829 mins
Delacroix(888 mins) getting experience to go up to Prem

Santos never been higher than league 1 and 30. An age where players are starting to down grade divisions.

We are not going to be giving him game time because he's part of a loan agreement where the parent club expects him to get minutes Like DeLacroix

We are not going to have him playing RB/LB where the majority of Christies minutes are

Should we need a player for 300 to 400 minutes a season(essentially 3 or 4 full games per season) then I would much rather throw an inexperienced Lissah in at the deep end when we do need minutes from a 3rd CH

On wages/fee point. Lissah is free and lower wage than Santos. Why put this player in the way of developing our U21's. If we put squad fillers like Santos in for 2 years when or how does Lissah progress. Same for other positions on the pitch re U21 players progressing.

So its not just being a back up. He would also be an obstacle for other players to develop.

Assuming Darling leaves I have no problem signing 2 quality or decent CH's even tho that would block Lissah

29 is young for a centre back, plus we need at least 4 centre backs, ideally 5 with one able to play multiple positions. Lissah hasn't had a single minute of senior football. He may be good enough to go straight into a Championship side but the chances are he needs a loan move, perhaps to a League Two outfit such as Newport.

Sheehan says he wants to have a balanced age profile to the squad. Santos' experience will be valuable. I expect us to sign at least one up-and-coming youngster, possibly Low, although reports suggest we've cooled our interest.

I agree with some of this, but point of order regarding Christie, he's played the majority of his football in the Championship and more in League One (65 games) than the PL (23 games). So he wasn't really a PL player downgrading because of age, more Championship was his natural level.

Probably just agent talk. Defensively weak. Only being linked because he's a free agent I'm guessing.

If the club wants to.progress and has any serious ambition, we need the owners/investors to back a shrewd recruitment program this summer. Yes we carry a £15M debt but how much of that has been caused by wasted funds on transfers, Dwindling fan attendance through a combination of boredom and frustration affecting commercial operations and revenues. The club requires a 3 year growth plan developing our youth and attracting fans and business sponsors.

It can be done with the right group of decision makers and visionaries.

Gora Doug looks an interesting one.
Links seem to claim he was one of the best defenders in the Swiss league the season just gone.
Contract ending so would that mean he would be a free as he is moving abroad despite being under 24?

He's only 21 so too young to write him off, but his defensive stats are very poor. I can't see how those stats can possibly square with the claim he's one of the best defenders in the Swiss league. Perhaps one for the future, but not the present.

Will likely need to translate once opened.
One of a few write ups I have read that says he was one of the best defenders in the league.
Looks like we are pushing on with a centre half or 2. I think this Diouf would likely come in as a back up but I think a WP could be an issue.
