Blimey the birds in your garden get more exotic every year Dar.

On the other hand I love Jocelyn Anderson's twitter. Thin you put me on to her a while back, the videos of her hand feeding the birds are amazing.

My Neighbour has bird feeders and can see a lot of birds flying over my garden. But recently 2 Hawks have appeared and one pinned a pigeon down which looked very messy.

The other Hawk made off with a sparrow at the weekend

Had many wood pigeons killed by sparrowhawks in my garden

Gruesome stuff

Hell of a fight in the garden this morning between two male blackbirds. One of them ended up dead on the ground. I know Robins are really territorial and aggressive but blackbirds FFS.

Very nice kestrel pic but at least those buggers hover and stay still unlike most others. Reminds me of a pic I took of a hovering Short-toed Snake Eagle in Spain a couple of years ago.

Years ago, on the end of the M4 by Briton Ferry, there were a group of gulls on the ground. Then they took off and were about 20’ above the motorway and one gull dinged another one on the head with his beak and it dropped like a stone onto the road, dead as mince.

Don’t know about anyone else, but trade on my rig has fallen off a cliff the last week or so. Just a few goldfinches and a collared dove now and then. No sparrows at all. Does anyone know if it’s anything to do with nesting being over?

August is a quiet month, it’s the same when you’re out and about, very few birds to be seen. It picks up again in September when a lot of species are preparing to migrate.

I've got a nest with some collared doves in a tree in my garden.

Collared Doves have a longer breeding season than most species as they are known to lay up to 5 clutches of eggs so while a lot of species will have already deserted their nests by now, Collared Doves will probably still be using theirs.

Looks like someone from Asbo corner watching Huw Jenkins taking his seat.
