Isn't it strange how a change of playing style can alter people's opinion of players we were happy to see the back of such as Cooper and Bianchini who are now seen as viable options in a Matos set up. I'm not criticising those opinions and I tend to agree with them but it just goes to show how much more likely square pegs might perform when they're not in round holes.

There has to be more that is needed to be able to get into our team though than the ability to run round like a headless chicken for 90 minutes. Some people are just judging potential now on energy levels.

There has to be more that is needed to be able to get into our team though than the ability to run round like a headless chicken for 90 minutes. Some people are just judging potential now on energy levels.

The hope would be that our current manager and his staff could put more head onto that chicken than previous managers and make them useful off the bench for 15-20 minutes. I'm thinking in terms of our loanees/exiles at present rather than future principal transfer targets.

Exactly. It's pretty clear at this point that Bianchini and Cooper's loans aren't exactly looking to lead to us receiving offers for them come the summer. Matos' system is also looking to be demanding on the players. So having some senior pros here, ready to come off the bench and help us see out games seems to be a sensible option. No one is expecting Cooper (or Bianchini if he is recalled) to suddenly become match-winners, but then again no one thought Fulton would be the other night did we?

Millwall have had a decent Christmas travel wise.. 3 home games and a short trip to Southampton. How did we get lumbered with 3 away games with trips to Cov, Oxford and Millwall in this schedule??

Yep, don’t recall these two unless absolutely necessary. They will gain more from game time in Scotland than they will warming our bench.

But Bianchini as a temporary replacement for Idah? Can’t see it unless he’s seriously improved.

Wales wasn't on for long against WBA but he did enough in those few minutes for his contribution to be noticeable when most late subs don't.
