The Summer Transfer Window Thread

I'm not too sure it has been put on hold. I can't really see them agreeing to the deal yesterday night, and then putting it on hold this morning.

I think it's a case of Rodgers pushing the board to ensure they get a striker in themselves, and the journalist that is the source of this £7 million figure reporting purely based on Rodgers comments.
I hope so, off the top of my head, I really can’t think of a situation where this has happened? Surely it would never reach the terms agreed and player having a medical, for then, the manager to step in, and say he’s not going until a replacement is in?

Dan James? Although that wasn’t the manager in fairness.

True, a few year back now. But I think it was the board that pulled the plug on that.

Hopefully we will get him over the line, for Celtic to pay 9 million for him, they must have saw something in him.

Personally I’m all for it, great believer in one not shoe size fits all, and I have watched a few videos on him, and he’s got quick good feet.

I wonder what Jaxs thinks? He’ll have seen a lot of this fella.
He's more than decent for us at the right price. Hasn't had a proper run of games with Kyogo being first pick, after Kyogo left Brendan moved Maeda inside and he scored for fun. He'll take a few games to get up to speed but when he fires, given the right service, the goals will come. If anyone has any doubts about his quality, take a look at the two goals AI scored against Aston Villa last season at Villa Park in the Champions league.

Nice to see you back mate, hope all is well.

If we add this player we will immediately force the opposition to abandon quite such a high line. If they defend high he certainly looks to have the pace to run in behind.
If they defend deeper it gives our midfield more room to play - which is the strength of our squad
Suffice to say i am excited. It might not look like a wow signing - but it might turn into one!

With him having a half decent scoring record I wonder why the Celtic fans are so against him.
Agreed, be good to know what the actual issues are with his game if we’re throwing all eggs in this basket and offloading Vipotnik at the same time.

Hopefully those making the decisions at the club are correct and the Celtic fans are wrong!

He’s got great feet and a bit of pace. I think Vipotnik hasn’t had a fair crack of the whip here but if Bratislava are definitely interested and he’s happy to go there it might be best all round. Especially if we get a pacier more effective RW in than Ronald who can also play striker. A LB for cover and this transfer window could be one of the best ever for SCFC and could make the playoffs an almost certainty.

Celtic fan coming in peace here re Idah.

Honestly, one of the worst ‘first team’ strikers in my lifetime and im really hoping you guys get the deal done. He may have scored 20 goals last season - some stats on that:
• 6 of those goals came when Celtic was already at least 3 goals up
• 11 came when Celtic was at least 2 goals up
• He only gave Celtic the lead 3 times last season: vs Falkirk, Motherwell away and Hibs at home (after the league splits for the final 5 fixtures)
• He never gave Celtic a 1-0 lead
• Only score Celtic’s first goal twice (vs Villa (dead rubber) and Rangers)
• Only scored 3 times before 40th min (Motherwell away, Villa x2).

His hold up play is abysmal, I’ve never seen someone so unable to take a first touch. If you play with space in behind the opponents backline, he’s probably fine. He was a much maligned figure last season but I think his preseason and the first couple of league games has cemented the supports opinion on him, and it didn’t help with Rodgers played politics and hooked him at HT - something we’ve noticed is he only uses a HT sub to either control a narrative or make a point - in our champions league playoff tie last week.

against a team that parks the bus, he just doesn’t move, is static and easy to defend against. I’ve plenty of ‘every Idah touch’ in x game if you want me to fire it up, let me know.

All the best for the season ahead anyway lads. Cheers.

Sounding like something from a Scum fan at the end, let’s not get carried away 😂

Sounds perfect for us then.
