• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

What positives this brings us?!

We’d be playing in Europe… would be able to attract far higher quality players than probably most of our championship counterparts because of that.

I’d imagine it would bring in extra revenue - if the competition money goes to the FAW - I don’t think they’d be taking our extra sponsorship deals etc

I’d love more European adventures!
You make some fair points.

Attracting higher quality players remains to be seen based on the possibility of playing in Europe. We still need to win the competition and then get through the qualifying rounds and offer competitive wages.

To get to the group stages we would need to play eight games. In the group that is an extra six games. How and when are we going to play all these extra games?

In terms of extra revenue we would need a marketing team capable in attracting extra sponsors.

I'm all up for an European tour, is it really worth the hassle?

My thoughts are we shouldn't be entertaining this. We can't have our cake and eat it.
There were plenty of people who were pissed off when we played in Europe after winning the League Cup and those same people are pissed off because we might be able to play in Europe under the Dragon.
We play in the Football league. That is our bread and butter. That is the bed in which we lye. fuck those bigots who have a go at us because we are a Welsh club when they are happy enough to see us defending the country.
We have earned the right to play in Europe under the Football pyramid and those who criticize us for trying to qualify in the Welsh cup are right unless of course we left the football pyramid and played in the Welsh league.
Incidentally, if we did play in the Welsh cup, TNS would probably beat us.

I'm not sure we'll particularly be able to attract a higher quality of player on anything near enough a regular basis to make this worthwhile.

Bearing in mind we actually need to qualify for this thing in the first place which, in reality, we'd be lucky to once every 3 or 4 years or so...

Firstly they'll go where the money is which isn't here.

Secondly, would they be particularly seduced by the prospect of exiting before the group stages to the side that finishes 3rd in Croatia or whatever.

Thirdly, it's all very well and good going to glamorous places in western Europe but the thought of going to Kazakhstan, deep Russia, etc on a Thursday and then having to go straight to Rotherham ready for a league game would, I imagine, put a lot of players off too.

It will be interesting to see what the clubs do next. Let's hope they don't threaten to take legal action.

Andy not doing his due diligence and sensor checking with the main stakeholders - the FA - before engaging the project is about as much as we've come to expect.

So makes him look an incompetent idiot even more than before.

He's probably too busy offering Harry Darling an extra £200 a week to have seen the rejection yet.

It does seem odd that they didn't consult their biggest stakeholder before pursuing this idea.

For a successful man he doesn't seem to engage his brain when it comes to do with anything Swansea City related.

Perhaps he's a bit lacking upstairs Smurph.

Absolute nonsense and greed. We play in the EFL but, fuck you, we'll also play in your cups but we can get more money by going elsewhere and playing.
More money. My arse. We get 8000 on a Tuesday night against Sheffield United. We'll get about 2000 (if we're lucky) playing AFC *insert 3rd placed team from some shitty league in outer Europe *. There's a loss.
We'll need a bigger squad. Of good players. More money gone on wages and transfers.
Travelling away to games. More money gone.
Players getting injured impacting league games. We start losing and playing badly. Crowds get disillusioned and don't go. Loss of revenue.
Players being attracted at the thought of Europe. What, teams we've never heard of in outer fucking Mongolia. I don't think so.
The EFL threatening to expel us (which is a huge possibility if we take part) which will practically end our existence.
But hey, a few trips for people to go to on the piss. Why not ?
I do feel quite strongly on this you may have noticed 😁
