Totally agree about how quickly people can turn on a manager. On the flipside, it's tedious to see the cycle of complaining about the manager when results are poor, eulogising the new guy when results improve, only to complain about him when results drop, etc.
There is nothing wrong with standing by the opinion that appointing Matos was a huge gamble. Anyone arguing otherwise when his managerial experience consisted of 12 games in Portugal's second division is being disingenuous.
I'm sure Lisa would agree that a lot of our more successful managers of recent times have also been gambles:
- Martinez had no experience
- Rodgers had flopped at Reading
- Potter had only managed in Sweden
- Cooper had only managed at U16 and U17 level
Nothing wrong with standing by an opinion, there's nothing wrong with holding your hands up and admitting you might have got it wrong either.
All about opinions, I guess.
