I do think we need a back up striker to cover for Idah but if the only signing we made was Rak Sakyi on loan and we didn’t lose anyone, I’d be happy with that.

Swap a perfectly decent squad player for a 36 year old who has played 2 games in over twelve months.

No thanks, these type of signings are hopefully a thing of the past.
I would agree. I wouldn't rule it out though given the Santos signing in the summer.

Santos was captain of Bolton and made over 200 hundred appearances in approximately 5 years at the club. If it hadn't been for the injury right at the start of the season, I have no doubt we would have seen a lot more of the lad.

No idea why you're comparing Santos with Ward as a signings.

Joel Ward who played over 100 games in the premier league in the last 5 years.
I would assume that if Ward was with a L1 club last season as Santos was then he would have played more than 2 games.

Samuels Smith played 0 senior games last season and Casey played 1 premier league game last season but we signed both as cover.

I am not disagreeing with you that we shouldn't be looking at this type of signings but it appears that we are. I am trying to look at why they might be thinking on a player like Ward rather than be dismissive of it.

Both Samuels Smith and Casey are 15 years younger than Ward, there is no comparison between them.

You never know, this might be one transfer rumour you actually get right. Lets hope now though.

It's not about me being right, I just pass it on and it clearly doesn't do me any favours on times but I am always fine with that.
Its not a signing that I think we should be looking into.

The same people thinking ward is a good idea, probably thought Bolasie was a good idea too. We dont want a cover option for RB, we want a starter. Joel ward is not going to be a week in, week out starter at 36 years old. If hes not played in the last year, he'll need weeks just to get match fit, What good is that to us?

Being fair, I haven't read anywhere on here that suggests posters think it would be a good idea.
I think the suggestion is that Matos might be the one behind this interest.
