Correct, you can never state a player is good or bad on signing based on the fee unless you know it.

My opinion of players are of the players, not of the made up fees.

You don't know they're made up. You're twisting your own logic.

I notice you dodged the Ayew Bony question 🤣

Just humour us then, if Idah continues in this same vein and leaked genuine papers from the club show we paid somewhere in the region of £6-7million, would you admit it was a bad signing?

Of course we know they are made up, because the figures are all different.

The Bony and Ayew question has the same answer to the Clucas and Baston one. Bony bad signing based on what he did in his second spell, Ayew a good one as he remained our best player for several seasons.

If he continued contributing to goals at a rate higher than anyone else on our team then it would be an incredible signing.

You're being obtuse again, then figures reported all in the same ball park.

Yea and if those 2 were on normal wages they'd have been decent signings. Instead the club plunged the club into financial club for years because of them. Can you not see that? All because you pretend not to know what they were paid? You're too partisan now.

So if Idah scores 3 more goals this season and then 6 next year (including penalties) you'd class that million outlay as an 'incredible signings!?

Come on this is utterly madness now.

How am I being obtuse?

£1m difference is a hell of a lot, and they will usually all use the same sources. Unless you think each publication was sat in on negotiations? The fact they are different at all suggests they don’t know.

I have no idea how much Ayew was paid and neither do you.

Idah will be a good or bad signing based on what he does for us, not based on a made up figure. At the moment he’s sat behind the leagues top scorer.

Pages and pages of irrelevant twaddle again. Take it to the DMs fellas.

Agreed, I'm

You've gone too far digging in now and you've been caught out, by your own logic. There's no use in replying to this.

What logic?

My logic states that I won’t judge a fee unless I know it and will always judge a player on what they do over the course of their career with us.

It’s not changed.

There’s plenty of reasons to be skeptical of the reported fee:
  • Celtic wanted him gone to appease the fans, their bargaining power would not be as strong.
  • Again to appease their fans it would have been in the board’s interest for the reported fee to be as high as possible.
  • People from our club have outright laughed off the fee.
  • It’s doubtful Swansea have the finances to pull off such a high initial fee without breaking psr rules.
  • All of our other recent big signings have had long instalments and are heavily clause based.

And to add to that, regardless of the fee it’s pointless arguing about it. Idah hasn’t had a chance to prove himself yet how can we make any judgements about the transfer without giving him a chance?

Fair points but

- bearing in my mind no striker coming in and the position they are in, keeping him would have a fair outcome.
- yes, we would.
- the fee would be spread across a few seasons to circumvent the psr implications.
- yes, long installments but you still pay. Clause related yes, but I dont see celtic accepting anything unachievable and not too heavily weighted. They aren't going to say pay 2mill now and another 4mill when you get promoted because they know thats highly unlikely to happen.

Yeah, he could come good. I dont like what ive seen so far though.

Is that really a radical statement?
