Captain Grimes on his way to Coventry City?

For all his tedious faults.. Grimes wasn't caught to often in possession, that was more the CB traits...oh, and our RB

Apart from his dip in form lately, he was a pretty good player for us in that role. I’m very interested in seeing how this plays out now and how we adapt and play without him. I think it’s likely people may only appreciate what he did when he’s gone. Maybe I’m wrong with that and we’ll be unleashed. We’ll see.

Who kept passing them stupid or suicide balls to up his stats?

Why. Play the cunt. Od love to see it, and it weakens them.
No. No, no, no.

It is in fact contained within the laws of the game - Chapter 6, Section 4, para 2b:

"A player shalt score against Swansea the very first game they face them after their departure".

Danny Graham left here and was basically clinically dead for 2 years, then pops up with a goal for Hull down here on his first appearance back.

We don't want Grimes anywhere near that pitch on Saturday.

I heard earlier this week the real reason Grimes had a sudden change of heart & wanted to leave was after some pretty disgusting personal abuse had been aimed at his Family since the Cardiff Game

I know some may say as a professional footballer he needs to suck it up and deal with the abuse and criticism but if my wife & kids were getting death threats I think I’d be the first to get out

No idea. It’s not hard to imagine though. He gets so much stick for a guy who’s been with us 10 years.

Let's see how we do without Grimes Saturday.. will LW default the same style with Fulton playing CB or will the elusive Allen reappear from his convalescing ward.

I've always had a bit of a "manager's son in a kids team" vibe about Grimes. We all know the type. Plays every game. Takes almost every set piece. Captain. Undroppable from all three roles no matter how poorly he might play.

The reaction to his departure by the other players might suggest that their feelings aren't entirely dissimilar. Maybe they were fed up of him too, and taking his ball elsewhere when it suits him was just the cherry on top.

I've always struggled to articulate exactly what it is about him that I've never liked, but your opening paragraph there nails it for me.

I'm probably more enthused about us this weekend than I have been in years, and that's because of the excitement of not knowing what we're going to get for a change. If he'd still been there we all know what we'd have got, simply more of the same walking football. I think it's going to be the making of us, I really do.

I have that feeling too, this week has hopefully awakened us from the slumber we we're in.

Here's my theory based on what we know so far, what has happened in the past and what we know about the personalities involved. Possibly cobblers, maybe a hint of truth.

The players aren't happy with Wiliams. That much seems certain. So Grimes, in his capacity as "Captain", and as we know he has done before, has gone to Coleman to whinge about it.

Coleman, undoubtedly suffering from his own buyers remorse over Williams, facing the headache of finding a replacement during a transfer window that they'd already planned for and well aware that Grimes' griping was one of the reasons why we found ourselves in the position of needing to appoint a new manager in the first place, has lost his temper and basically told Statty to shut up and play, to do what we're handsomely paying him to do and stop pretending that he's the one in charge.

Grimes has gone to the rest of the squad for support and found out that he is perhaps not as universally popular as he might have thought. Lots of them are new, many may be harbouring their own doubts as to whether a style of play that seems to have been custom designed to suit one man may not be ideal to make the best out of their own talents, and would be quite happy to change things up in a way that Grimes would not like and have told him so.

MG's agent suddenly finds himself with extra work to do.
