• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

This wasn't his first rodeo apparently.

He's done it before somewhere in Gower, I read earlier.

I'm not at all surprised. The whole escapade gets more embarrassing by the minute. I'm really not sure how anyone could justify his actions. Unless you're a serial mouth breather.

No we will go down there, give them the fuc*ing money, then tell them to phone the fu**ing police, and walk out the shop with the fuc**ing items.

Well I suppose he could have paid them the equivalent to £8 worth of bananas for the mug and walked out, end of the day they don't accept cash in the club shop, so technically he walked out without paying, again thier rules...

Oh god, it wasn't that bad. You should not be so sanctimonious, what were his actions? His actions were paying for something in cash, rather than a card.

All you are missing is the presentation of it, I would say.

I bet if one of your favourite film or tv stars, did a similar thing, you would be like wow they have a point!

Whatever way someone highlights a certain subject, so be it in a clumsy unprofessional way, surely you would look at that, and just think of the subject in hand, not the actual person reporting it? As I have said, it really doesn't bother me, but I understand the frustrations of the people that it will bother. Poor money management people for starters..I would envisage it will be an absolute nightmare for them, even going to watch the swans.

Fair enough, that's a good point, I was thinking about that this afternoon when I saw the video, the actual legality of like what he did, like he plonked the full price for the mug on the counter and walked out, So would it be theft?

Yes, technically he might as well have paid in Monopoly money...

Yeah but it was legal tender I assume he paid with, I suppose what could be the charge, the price is 8 quid, he paid 8 quid, so I suppose how could that be theft? Surely the cps would chuck that straight out?

He can't be charged with theft, because he has paid for it.

The only payment accepted at the club shop is cashless payment, it's thier policy, they don't accept sterling or any other form of transaction for thier goods, legal or otherwise.
Like I've stated, I believe individuals should be afforded the choice to pay cash or card, but it's up to the supplier to decide what's best for them, if I don't like thier policy I go elsewhere.

It had the feel about it of someone who is looking for it rather than happened to come across it.

Of course.. But it does ponder the question, if someone pays for goods with cash rather than a card, could they be committing an offence? What would be the offence?, it seems quite a unique situation really, like every place I have been where the card only option was available , it's like they were only offering drinks or food, and you had to pay beforehand.

Now this is very interesting, I know what you are saying regarding the payment structure down the lib, but even so. This is interesting, a man pays for the goods in legal tender. I would love to know the high courts ruling on this. Has he committed theft whilst paying full price and walking away?

I'm not a lawyer, but I'd wager this is a watertight situation, the seller decides the payment method and the buyer has the choice to purchase or go elsewhere.
If Swansea City took this individual on for theft I'd think they would have a very good case.
Hopefully It won't come to this, but judging by the condemnation of his actions by SCFC It could go down that route.

I guess if this was reported to the authorities. They would probably ask the club what do you want/expect us to do about it?
The next phase would be I guess they could ban him from the shop and ground as he was good enough to show his face on the video.

Rather than a police matter I would imagine it would be a commercial matter for Swansea City to sort out, if they were to let this incident "slide" it would be the green light for anyone to walk in and "slap the cash down" on the counter and walk out with thier merch.
This could run and run if not sorted through the courts.

Can't argue with that, though it would be strange if the chap got done for it, when he has paid in full, I think what I meant to say was there would have to be a new law introduced to prevent, I mean what could be the charge, if someone left full payment? It cannot be theft surely, regardless of Swansea City.Com terms and conditions. Where is their loss? The mug is 8 quid, he has paid 8 quid, there is no offence?

You imagine he was charged with it? It can't be a crime, appear before the magistrates on what charge? I would suggest the only charge the chap could be culpable of is breaking Swansea City terms and conditions, which would be a civil matter, not a criminal one.
