• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Won’t be long love, I think I’ve proven my opinion is correct and everyone else is wrong.

Anyway, may as well invite Dimi back on at this point.

Oh and all this he’s a 6 or he’s an 8 is just hipster bollocks.

Paul Scholes said on a podcast I watched last night, they’re midfielders stop trying to be clever about simple things.

The game is over analysed to cuntsville and back these days, leave the game alone ffs.

Weren’t you one of his biggest fans?
Dimi? A fan?

If you mean I thought that he made some very fair points in a non aggressive / abusive way, then yes. Although I also criticised him for not ever letting things drop. We agreed and disagreed. If that’s a fan, then yes.

I've watched the Swans since 1974 and, like lots of people on here, been to hundreds of away gounds many of which no longer exist.

I don't subscribe to this DNA bollocks. It's what corporations say as management speak or, in other words, it's bullshit.

The best periods in the last 50 years were when we had:
1. Competent and driven managers
2. Leaders on the pitch (eg Robbie, Ash, Tosh, Roger, Chopper, Roberto, Leon)
3. Decent team players - experienced and proven.

We fail all 3 of these at moment. We didn't walz into the old Division 1 or the Premier League with a bunch of "could be's".
Wow. Someone on the same wavelength. Been going since 78 and couldn't agree with you more. This DNA and swanseaway is total nonsense. As you state, media made bollocks. And what bugs me is, if you dare say something against it, you are not a supporter/armchair fan/don't understand according to the sycophants. Good on you mate.

So to sum it up then, you’ve asked for my argument to be backed up, but in terms of yours, it’s what Cooperman from PlanetSwans has “seen” lol

Genuine question have you ever kicked a football in your life? Not that it matters too much but I’m guessing you played at a very high level if you think your opinion trumps Potter, Cooper, Russ, Luke, Marco Silva and multiple data analysts in the industry.
I agree with some of your points and disagree with others, BUT please stop giving the "you think your opinions are better than Luke, Russ blah blah blah" point. Because if that point holds true then there would be no point to this site because we're all plebs who know nothing. It's a bit childish tbh as you keep using it to prove your opinion is right , which by your point, you're not entitled to because you've not been at a level high enough to have an opinion.
To conclude, everyone is entitled to their opinion. You can't say who's right.

Hahaha loved reading thread.
I think I commented weeks ago on Mr Grimes but I'll chuck my oar in again.
Firstly, fuck these statistics and data rubbish. This crap is what gets us players like we've had in the last couple of years. This shite costs the club, how much, in having employees analysing the data which could be used elsewhere. Did we sign Waddle, Latchford, Gilligan, Watkin, Trundle, Scotland etc etc on data ? Did we fuck. We looked at how many goals they scored.
As for Matt.....Best midfielder we've had since Premier League.....until the last 3 years when Martin and Luke have made him drop back to DM. In the centre he was great, going forward, shooting etc. Now he's doing his job well at what he's been told to do. Which is absolute shite. Get him back up the field and I believe Matty will come good again (to those like me who despair at his current role)
That's my humble opinion.

I think some people take the data analysis too far, but to be fair sometimes it works. It had to be data analysis that identified Piroe, as he'd only scored 3 Eredivisie goals when we signed him and was hardly prolific at youth level either. That worked out alright.

Liverpool and Brentford have done ok with this approach.

Agreed that some people take all this data analysis way too seriously.

Matty played well again today.
He did better with his set piece delivery which was the main nitpick about him last game.
This 3rd defender nonsense seems to have stopped too thankfully.
