Don't know if you've seen the Guardian headlines this morning, Prof, but the new BMA Chairman is saying an all out doctors strike is inevitable. As well as pay, he is saying it is being considered to expose that fact that the NHS is on the point of collapse after 12 years of Tory mismanagement and underfunding. He has given specific examples, including the state of the ambulance service.
British people need to wake up and get rid of this shitshow of a government before it's too late. The UK is becoming a third world country before my eyes. I'm well out of it, but it makes me so sad for my family and friends.
Saw it last night. All I can say I am pleased my mother is resident in Spain (Tenerife) as she had a rapid cataract operation and quick screening for a cancer scare.
I met my cousin, a GP, for a dog walk a month or so back. She is in her late forties and completely disillusioned. When her boys finish school (in about five years) I can see her thinking about packing up. That will be another experienced GP lost. The demands of the pandemic have been huge and you can't fund health care on hypocritical hand claps.
People wondered why I was not out clapping and banging pans. I hope they realise why now.
To be honest I earn enough to get through the current crisis, but even we will need to make some cut backs.
I honestly don't know how anyone on a family income below 60K are going to manage.
I'll say that again-a £60K family income just to live a vaguely 'normal' life.
People need to wake up to what they are voting for.
