IMO at this point, I think the only way this board will prosper is if you have a strict 'no politics' rule, as the current trend is not constructive, frightens away potentially new users and just leads to the kind of shit show there has been this weekend. I've seen comments from people who appear to be relatively new, who are quite upset, and don't get all the rivalries and bullshit that has built up over the past two decades on here.
At the very least have a dedicated board for politics. Before the move there were people using it as a platform for that very reason (and it still is), and it was infested with hate, which has now bled over to here.
It never used to be like this, PlanetSwans used to be fun. Let these types of people fester on the other site. Practically every forum on the internet has a no politics rule, for the very reasons illustrated on here over the weekend. Also, get some mods who are willing to do what's necessary and not avoiding the needed duties because they're too afraid of how it makes them look for actually moderating.
