S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Blackburn Rovers 1 Swansea City 2 | Attendance: 11,013 (372 away) | Tues 30th Sept | The EFL Championship

Only meister Sumbler can tell me what I can’t say on here

Key screwed up three promising attacks in the second half when we had broken their defensive line. Seems to have lost his composure and end product this season
Poor bugger was also standing on the line playing their blocker onside for the goal I think. Can’t do right for doing wrong. Needs a rest and a reset.

I guess we’re all delighted with the result but personally I don’t see much of a shape to us at the moment.
Maybe it’s just a case of bedding in and coming up with the right combinations, we’ve played some pretty ordinary sides this season so far and I did expect more from a squad of players who by our standards have cost a few quid.
On a more positive note this division looks wide open and we should be looking to challenge for a play off spot at the very least.
Apart from you, who wouldn't be happy with a win away from home?

The goal on the weekend was all down to him?
Reacted first to a loose ball, dribbled past one and cut it back to Ronald who scuffed his shot but ironically got the assist when Vipotnik flicked it in

Moments like that are the reason I like him.

Yup I called him out on that when the goal went in. Tracking his runner is fine but he is the only one who didn’t push out after

I'm hoping it's more to do with combinations and I think tonight was a big shining of light for Sheehan and he now realises we need a midfield with a no 10 in it.

Unfortunately Galbraith might be the scapegoat and goes to RB but if it makes us better as a team then so be it.

Scanned the thread since the end of game, surprised to read that most thought we were not good. I thought it was a pretty decent away performance and we’re were the better side apart from 10 mins or so. B’burn unfortunate not to get that pen or at least a free kick on the edge of the box but that goes halfway to evening up dodgy calls the last couple of weeks. Even if we were a bit iffy we were better than them and we have better players. Good job well done imo.

7th in the league.

Last 16 of the cup.

We will very much take that.

Too simplistic to look at just these things right now.

It has very much been a 5 or 6/10 start to the season in the league. Nothing to worry about as every game is close but plenty to improve on.

Biggest difference this year is the bench - actual players who can actually play and are motivated to make a statement.
I think AS learnt from the Brum defeat - he should have played some cards that night when it was obvious we were struggling - but tonight instead of sitting on his hands he made the changes that ultimately won the game.
Our biggest issue is our defending out wide - Tymon offers a ton going forward but oh my he is terrible defending - and Key is exactly the same without offering half as much going forward.
We need to grab games by the scruff - otherwise we will get exposed in this league. The Blackburn right back was decent - but we made him look like prime time Cafu
You’d think altering the balance of the midfield starting positions would help with this (defending out wide).

Having two deeper midfielders should mean than one is able to slide across and cover if the full back has bombed on. You’ll lose out in other areas but it’s not as if we’re dominating the midfield with 3 of Stamenic, Franco, Galbraith & Yalcouye.

I’ve said this loads, but two of those first 3 with a ‘10’ behind Vipotnik would benefit us all over the park IMO. Could understand playing all 3 in some tougher away games as and when needed but going with 2 means you’ve also got legs to come on in there for the last 20-25 mins.

Disagree, it’s been an excellent start to the season with a newly assembled side. After 8 games I would take where we are every day of the week.
