The Swans are again in action on Tuesday night at the Liberty when we welcome QPR to South Wales for a game that we simply have to win.

We returned home on Saturday after two wins on the road to another disappointingly poor performance against Wycombe and were grateful to two late goals to earn a point against a side bottom of the league and heading for an immediate return to League One.

With Watford being beaten and Brentford dropping points Steve Cooper's comments about "missed opportunities" told only half the story as the Swans went backwards in terms of performance once again and the worry ahead of the play off campaign has intenstified.

We do have the chance to change that again against QPR though and get ourselves back on track before heading into the last few games of the season and thinking about away trips to Reading and Watford to come.

As ever on Planet Swans we will build up with our matchday thread which has - for a variety of reasons - lacked some pre-match build up from our side the last few games but we can put that right starting here. So get the discussions going!

With almost certainly no Ayew for this one it will say much of Cooper's approach how we line up for this match. Without a doubt we need an offensive line up and have to go at QPR with tempo. In the last game Hourihane was shockingly bad so he has to drop out in my opinion, we have to go with an offensive formation for this one, however we also have to respect that QPR are no mugs and are potent at attacking down the flanks themselves.

For me this is a game for a 4-3-3 formation but with only one sitting midfielder. I doubt that Cullen is ready for a full match yet and I am tired of Cooper shoehorning Lowe into a strikers position and even using Routledge as a striker when that is Whittaker's preferred position.

---------------------Woodman----------------------
Roberts-----Bennet----------Guehi-----Manning
----------------------Grimes------------------------
-------------Fulton-----------Dandha--------------
Routledge--------Whittaker----------------Lowe

High tempo one or two touch football is vital

Cant miss the chance to put the 5-0 and the 4-1 videos up Shirley?

Listen up.
Routledge will start for Ayew.

Only change from Wycombe.

Cullen kicks his heals again until the 79th minute.

Full time 1-1...

#bookmark 😔

All I'll say is, Roberts is not a wing forward in his life and Naughton is not a right side centre half in his.

What formation or personnel can we pick to get the result, we're too inebriated in this shape mould to change drastically, it's our do or die, we're not going to change the structure within four games

Woodman

Naughton/Roberts
Bennett
Guehi
Bidwell

Grimes
Smith
Fulton

Lowe
Routledge
Cullen/Whittaker

Hourihane doesn't deserve a start, but there's a goal in him

Conor H will start for his goal potential and free kick ability, we are a team that can defend a lead, which enables Conor R to drop back in a five man defence if needed. I cannot see QPR being a pretty affair. QPR will play to frustrate and keep the game tight, we will go along with this and try to keep possession and draw a foul within shooting distance. Hold on to your hats.

Steve's forensic analysis of what we need to do:

Ho hum.

Given some of the defending v Wycombe was a bit Micky Mouse Cabango has to be recalled.
I thought Naughton and Guehi were decent and Bennett MoM but as a unit with Manning they seemed unsure about positions. Hourihane’s immobility didn’t help
We should be going at QPR from the the start and keeping our pace for later in the game - Whitaker and Roberts as 60 minute subs.

Freeman ................................ Bidwell
Routledge..... .. Fulton ..... Hourihane ... Dhanda
