Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Leeds United 2 Swansea City 2 | Att: 35,574 (784 Away) | The EFL Championship

At this rate he could be almost as useful as Craig Beattie.

I don’t want to rule him out (although I would if we take away sentiment), but we desperately need a new main striker for next season.
Comparing him to Beattie is beyond harsh when you consider the quality of service that was available to our strikers in that season of the Championship and now.

I will stick my neck out and say that in side with a proper attacking cutting edge he would be a 20 goal striker no doubt.

What? I wouldn’t want any of them anywhere near a pen. Maybe with the exception of a Darling blast down the middle as the 8th pen in a sudden death shootout.

It was asked who you would pick !? So who would you have picked with the 11 on the field?

Also, very late input on this, but I've only just seen it...

Tymon's penalty was not bad at all. Could do with more power (and professionals should obviously be leathering them in, really), but it's a really good stop from Meslier.

Glad he cocked up from there.

There is a youtube video called Fan Cam behind the goal to the right of our fans.

They were singing god save the king and high volume when Vip scores...

Their fans suddenly stopped and scuttled out the back like rats..

All gone quiet over there ! 😅😅

Sheehan is still not the man for next season for me, but, his tactical reading for individual games does impress me enough to say he would be an excellent number 2 if wanted. Bang on relentless high press put Dirty Leeds under pressure they couldn't cope with. Having Delcroix on the left with Tymon further forward to minimise James was spot on. As was taking him off before he got sent off. The mix of short and long passing works well and, unless there is no option, we never seem to go backwards (Franco excepted, played well, just still got a touch of the Luke about him).
No bad performances from us. Numerous from Leeds but because of how we set up. Apart from their keeper lol.
I sensed a rout after 36 seconds. And when Gnonto scored it felt worse than a rout. But , just well done all round. Superb. Just GOTTA follow it up with a victory at home next.

It's basically straight at him with little power
I felt I had to come back to this point1743328709618.png

As said before the penalty wasn't a bad one it was right in the bottom corner
Sometimes you see keepers make only a tiny dive to protect against the ball going straight down the middle
Other times they guess wrong altogether
Melier (sp?) not only guesses right but makes a hard dive to his left to keep it out
Was it a great penalty? No, a "great" penalty would have had enough power that he couldn't have reached it anyway
Was it a "bad" penalty? No, it was still a difficult one to save that could only have happened if he had guessed right and dived hard to his left
Fortunately we still got a point out of the game but to call it a shocking penalty is simply untrue and unfair

One of the Forest players (Milenkovic?) put a penalty in the exact same spot last night, but hit it with enough power that the keeper couldn't get down fast enough.

The worst penalties are obviously the ones that miss the target. The worst on target ones are where they go a little to the keeper's left or right, but about 2-3 foot off the ground, a lovely easy height for the goalkeeper to save.

Either way, the penalty was clearly not 'right at the keeper' and he certainly wouldn't have saved it if he stood still.

Exactly. Rating the penalty out of 10 I would probably give it a 6
Difficult one to save but saveable for the keeper
He either didn't convincingly give the keeper the eyes, was obvious about where he was gonna put it or Melier just got lucky and guessed correctly

If it had gone in we would have just called it a great penalty, right in the corner

That Forest one was pretty much in the same spot as ours, however, my 6 year old grandson hits the ball harder than what Tymom hit it. Their keeper could have gone down in instalments and could have still got a hand to it.

You continually surprise me with your complete and thorough analysis of all things football.

Comparing Vipotnik to Beattie is ludicrous. Beattie played for Scotland just seven times in his entire career - Vipotnik has represented Slovenia 17 times already at the age of just 23. His career will completely eclipse Beattie’s but quite some margin injuries permitting.

Anyone with a bit of an eye can see there’s a very good player in there - his finish yesterday was difficult and he nailed it. His volley away at Derby was top class.

He, like Beattie struggled with defensive managers and hardly any creativity behind but I’d say Beattie had the advantage in a far better manager in Paulo Sousa. Sousa as a player played at the highest levels and as a manager went on to much bigger things . Vipotnik had Luke Williams who never even played professionally at any level and was hopelessly out of his depth as well as tactically illiterate.

With Grimes and Williams gone I fully expect him to score a few more before the end of the season and to be improved again for the next with the added bonus of Widdell supporting him from midfield.

Some on here should give him a break - I find it weird how some of our supporters treat our signings like someone looking at a car kicks its tyres. Bizarre

No, I'd give it a 5 maximum, if you're going to place it, you've got to give it enough power to beat the keeper even if he guesses correctly. Funnily enough, I was pretty sure he wouldn't score even as he was placing the ball on the spot. He didn't look confident. But I still want to know why he took it, not our so called striker and top scorer Cullen. Who made the decision?
On a positive note, since the departure of the garden gnome, we are suddenly putting in some very dangerous free kicks from out wide, Tymon being the best at it, but Eom and O'Brien too. Keep it up, lads.

Plus he held the ball for about 5 minutes before he took it, somebody should've held it for him, so he didn't have to think about it.. it's what everyone else does
