Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 0 Burnley FC 2 | Att: 13,679 | The EFL Championship

Grimes was not exactly known for raising the bar or the performance levels of those around him when the players were having a collective stinker
Matty was famous for galvanizing the troops - by example and by authority - calm, measured command and control - everything we are so utterly bereft of

and yet we have a £40k a week Prem league player to deputize....

Fair play, you didn't mention QPR.

Grim. It’s like the Watford performance turned up to 11 and against a better team.

Stupid, costly mistakes and a complete lack of quality when it matters.

?
Their defense has been rapidly unraveling.
They have conceded 5 goals in their last 4 games - even Cardiff managed to score against them.

If we can regain some semblance of Midfield command and control, instead of scurrying, scampering and scrambling around for bits 'n bobs of possession - we can win this.

2-1, with Midfield command and control, aka the Swanseway
1-3, if we continue to scurry
The Fact is :

It's the latter prediction, on this showing.

We are utterly clueless in Midfield - no command, no control, no nothing.

We need a proper leader and proper Midfield to step up.

Willy Out was the Big Bang delta bounce

But without Matty, we're bereft of our Way, drifting aimlessly, all at sea

Burnley at a different level to us, but I've said it before that Eom, Key, Ronald and sadly Cullen are liabilities.
This is a poor championship, it just confirms how far we have fallen

When you are playing a team that concedes 0.28 goals per game over the course of the whole season the last thing you want to be doing is giving away a gift of a goal under such absurd circumstances as we did in the 4th minute.

Maybe an argument that Vig could have come to claim that floated cross hooked high into the air for the second, but other than that our players were always reacting to what happened with a block rather than any kind of anticipation.

I can't say that I have ever seen an amateur footballer trip over a stationary ball under no challenge let alone a professional one. I would laugh if it didn't set the tone for what has been a terrible performance overall.

I feel sorry for Vipotnik, he has won a LOT of aerial challenges despite us playing the ball up in the air all the time to a defence filled with tall players but much of the time there is just no one around him to support him.

The second goal - watch how LOB was just strolling around aimlessly

What we need is a proper Captain in that space that takes responsibility.

LOB is looking ever more like the 40k mercenary who'd rather be oop north right now - such the contrast to what we're accustomed to
