Summer Transfer Window

Those sites were quoting 6m euros or 5.1m pounds. Everybody knows whatever the price actually is it includes adds on etc so even if those numbers were accurate we probably wouldn't end up paying it all cos of the add on clauses. Anyway....

So you know we didn't pay 5m for Inoussa.
But you don't know know how much we did.
So bottom line is you don't know if we did or we didn't.
Nobody knows mate, especially the "itk" willy waving sites. "taps nose"

Was it, you often post up other sites "facts" as gospel. Fact is, unless it's posted up on the official site its all click bait...
Dont think so Ichabod
I may have mentioned the Indy a few times
Certainly not claiming anything I post or say or link to is fact or gospel.

I know what some sites say, but there is absolutely no way we spent 5 million on Inouessa. Nor 3 million on Widell.

That may be total, total, total when you add in all sorts of clauses like promotion, but no way we’ve guaranteed that amount. Absolutely no way.

The overestimation of transfer fees that goes on across the board on these public transfer sites is astonishing. They are often miles out.

I’m not suggesting btw we spend £10m on a striker. I’m suggesting we do better than Yates and Vipotnik. I suspect we will bring in a loan…
You're not correct there. Inoussa was signed for 5 million, but on a 5 year contract with the payments spread over something like 3-5 years.

Aye. That’s why clubs famously pay so little for strikers.

I love the optimism of thinking the 4 forwards we currently have could all score double figures and 5 midfielders could get 5-10 goals, however we play.
Getting into scoring positions is one thing. Actually scoring is quite another. And good strikers seem to get into those scoring positions far more frequently than poor strikers. It’s part of what makes them good.

In practice, we will only have Yates here if no one will take him, probably the same for Vipotnik and Bianchini.

I’ll be astonished if we don’t bring in a forward or two. It would show complete lack of ambition.

In the year we were promoted, it was on the back of Sinclair scoring an absolute bag full (about 23 or even more from memory). It made all the difference. And even then we brought in an additional striker to get us over the line.
I have to say that statistically (not in a “Byth of the Wyn” way that Doc is 100% correct.
My reasoning is the complete shift on our emphasis under Sheehan where quick and aggressive attacking football and the excellent overhaul of the side that we have seen. We were like a lame duck for most of last season and then Sheehan turned it around. We now have much better attacking players and I think they will raise Vip/ Cullen/ Yates games. I’m very excited for the new season and can see our midfield not only supplying our main forwards but also our midfield chipping in with more goals too.

If the midfield chip in with more goals that would be brilliant, but since relegation the only player to semi-consistently do that from that position is Jamie Paterson (9 and 8 in different seasons) and one good season from Ntcham (8) - the rest of them have all been 5s, 4s and 3s or even lower. If you don't believe me check the stats I posted yesterday, it's all there.

If Sheehan can get something going that Cooper, Martin, Duff and Williams all couldn't, then more power to him.

5 new signings new to the Championship.. hope that doesn't backfire on Sheehan
4 with no Championship experience isn't it? Unless you're counting McKenzie who seems unlikely to be in the first team this season.

Either way, you're right it's a gamble, but that's where the value for money is. Players with Championship experience are either expensive or are available for a reason. The only value to be found is in players with expiring contacts, the likes of Burgess and Darling.
