He's in terrible form, and if it wasn't for his mystical conning on the training ground and whole aura around the bloke from fans and all pundits bigging him up to something that he's not, he takes all set pieces (when is the last time he found the net or assisted a goal?).. 3 goals and 3 assists in God knows how many games now, we've got 3 years of him strolling about showing no leadership qualities, yet he's somehow conned everyone around the club thinking he's something remarkable. He's a journeyman padding his stats up with simple 5 yard passes sideways or backwards, and even when he does eventually play long, the pass is atrocious.

I don't see all the fuss, should be dropped, won't be dropped or even subbed, he's conned you all

But our manager likes him delighted he signed for 3 years and plans to build the side around him…..says it all

I think we deserved a point. I think it’s outrageous to claim it’s outrageous we didn’t get one though.

Supporters must understand we are a work in progress. So I thought I'd look it up. Watching our team today I'm struggling to understand what it meant .
An unfinished project that is still being added to or developed.
So now I know what I'm looking for and will keep looking.

“I thought we were outstanding in the second half, I will take that performance every single week. I thought we were excellent to a man,” said Martin

“Flynn Downes, Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughton, Matt Grimes. I could go through the whole team.

“I will accept that every time away from home. I spoke yesterday about wanting to make it into a home game and being the team we wanted to be.

“We played the game we wanted to play but we have been punished for one really poor moment and not being clinical enough.”

https://www.swanseacity.com/news/russell-martin-we-are-disappointed-we-showed-team-we-can-be

He sets us up like we're Man City, and we're not good enough to be like them, but he persists with it, even when it's glaringly obvious we can be get at, as the goal showed, I thought we were better in the 2nd half, but we should've been 2 or 3 down because Grimes is so poor, it's delusion with him, he's costing us points

No he doesn't. And Grimes is Martin's pick, his main man, and main man for delivering brand Martin.

When on earth do you see the top teams drop their CMs back into becoming the back 4, push their Naughtons into the CAM, play a non-football-playing CB as a wide right CB who constantly gifts possession to the oppo........when chasing a game, yet again against lowly, poor teams ? That's two games in succession he's completely lost the plot.

Works in progress mean just that. We ain't. We are swiftly regressing, negative progress, back in the bottom half. Leapfrogged by a Forest team who are clearly on an upward trajectory, playing effective football most efficiently.

Most of the goals we have conceded this season have been down to overpaying at the back or just basic errors.
Going forward we look more than decent, but unless Martin can shore up a dysfunctional defence and sign a reliable keeper we will lose more than we win this season...

Can't win every game.

So true and that’s now 5 out of the last 11 for us 1 from the last 5 against a side which had won just 2 games thus far….

You are deluded, go and follow you man Cooper to Forest. You will not be missed.

Spot on Skippy. He's got no presence or aura about him at all.
Plus he doesn't chip in with goals.

Which bit flew over your head ? All of it, it seems.

Some are happy to continue burying their heads, some are happier looking for solutions, challenging, questioning, debating.

Let's hope Martin's coaching team are the latter, and shine some much needed light, wisdom and common sense into Martin's egotistical little dark, closed bubble.

Steve Cooper was Gary Monk mk.2, inheriting a side with attacking talent and then gradually coaching all flair out of them until they are a boring "effective" side. That grind out 1-0 wins.

Martin came in with very little time to sort out the mess left by Cooper and he has done pretty well. Do we have the players he wants? No
Do we have square pegs in round holes currently? Yes

Given some funds in January and being able to bring some players in is crucial, and of course some going out who cannot play in the system.

What goes over my head is why someone would be so bothered to fish for bites. Bit sad isnt it really?

Agree with most of that. Problem is the “wingbacks”
All credit to him for finding a new role for Naughts but why has he been chopping and changing the back line ? Williams would be a decent player in centre of the defence but he’s no wingback. On another note - Whatever happened to Whitaker?
