Journalist reckons we were turned down in trying to sign Diego Rossi. Seriously good player. Reading interested too.

Twitter of course

Valued at £18M on Transfermarket, hell of a record for LA 42 goals in 80 games.

Apparently that’s what they want too. Bodes reasonably well for our intentions if we do go up. Genuine talent rather than the likes of Clucas. Only spend on an investment

The thought of spending all that money on Clucas still makes me sick.

Josef Martinez would be a good shout to look at 72 goals in 81 games for Atlanta.

SWANSEA CITY SIGN MORGAN WHITTAKER FROM DERBY COUNTY

Source: Swansea Official Site

Swansea City has completed the signing of Morgan Whittaker for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

The 20-year-old forward joins from Derby County and has put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half year contract at the Liberty Stadium.

Whittaker will be available for Friday’s fixture against Championship leaders Norwich, and is also able to feature in the FA Cup clash with Manchester City as he didn’t feature for Derby in the competition.

He adds to Steve Cooper’s forward options following injuries to Liam Cullen and Wayne Routledge.

Whittaker is a product of the Rams academy, and has been capped by England at age-grade level from under-16 to under-20.

He made his professional debut for Derby in August 2019, and he has gone on to make 32 first-team appearances, with 11 of those coming this season.

MORGAN WHITTAKER | SWANSEA CITY SWITCH A "REALLY POSITIVE MOVE"

Source: Swansea Official Site

New signing Morgan Whittaker feels his transfer deadline day switch to Swansea City is a “really positive move,” with the striker eager to get going under Steve Cooper.

The 20-year-old made the move from Derby County on transfer deadline day for an undisclosed fee, with Whittaker signing a four-and-a-half-year deal at the Liberty Stadium.

He ends a 12-year association with Derby, with Whittaker having made 32 appearances for the first team.

Now he bolsters Cooper’s attacking options which had been hit by injuries to Liam Cullen and Wayne Routledge.

The England Under-20 international is no stranger to Swans assistant coach Mike Marsh, whom he worked with during his time in his nation’s younger age groups, while he is also familiar with Cooper.

“I’m really happy to get the chance to play for Swansea City. I can’t wait to get started. It’s a really positive move for me,” said Whittaker.

“I’ve heard a lot about the club and I don’t think anyone needs telling about where the club’s going.

“I had been at Derby since I was eight, so I must give a lot of credit to them because they helped me progress and showed a lot of faith in me.

“I have a good relationship with Marshy and I know Steve from our time in the England youth ranks, even though he was in charge of the team above my age group.

“He gives young players a chance to show what they can do, and that’s encouraging.

“I’m really looking forward to playing under the gaffer. It’s obviously a big change going from Derby to Swansea but knowing the gaffer and Marshy will help me settle.

“Coming to a new club with the players we have here, obviously I won’t go straight into the team. I must work hard for my place and show my team-mates, the coaches and the fans what I can bring to the team.”

He only signed for them 2 weeks ago

Paul Arriola has completed his loan from DC United to Swansea City, I'm told.

The paperwork was filed and everything received ahead of the 6pm ET transfer deadline, per source. Loan with no purchase option but clubs will revisit potential permanent deal during the loan.

USA INTERNATIONAL PAUL ARRIOLA SEALS SWANSEA CITY LOAN

Source: Swansea Official Site

Swansea City have completed the signing of DC United forward Paul Arriola on loan for the rest of the season, subject to international clearance.

Winger Arriola has 35 caps for the United States, scoring eight times, and helped them win the Gold Cup in 2017.

The 25-year-old, who can also play at either right wing-back or right-back, has spent the last four years with DC United in the MLS, scoring 14 goals in 72 appearances.

Prior to that, he started his career with Mexican side Club Tijuana. He spent four full seasons with the Liga MX side before DC United paid a club-record fee of $3million to secure his services.

Meanwhile, Joel Asoro has returned to the Swans after his loan spell with Italian side Genoa was terminated.
