Boro rival Swansea to sign classy Aston Villa star

Source: Teamtalk

Middlesbrough have joined Swansea City in the race to land Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane, TEAMtalk can reveal.

The 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international is only on the fringes of the Dean Smith’s squad.

Indeed, he has made only four appearances for the Villans in the Premier League so far this season. Hourihane is attracting interest from the Championship.

As such, we can reveal Villa are willing to let him go and he’s ready to talk to interested parties.

Promotion-chasing Swansea are hopeful of a deal and currently lead the chase. However, our sources have informed us that Boro have also made an approach too. Neil Warnock is looking to bolster his squad ahead of a push for the Premier League too.

We understand Middlesbrough are also looking to move Lewis Wing on this month. That would help with the finances for other prospective signings such as Hourihane.

reports now stating hourihane and guilbert to cardiff very likely - thats a fckin serious kick in the teeth. There's no chance these players are choosing them over us

if that was remotely true you'd have to question who is advising them

Would be a lot of questions if Hourihane along with Watters went to Cardiff.

For us it would be why are we losing out to these players.
Cardiff should be asking why they are chucking money on players when there is a bigger problem to sort....Their Manager!

Might be a case of Villa wanting to send both their players to one club and Cardiff are willing to take both.

Can’t see them getting Hourihane. Why on earth would he want to go to a lower mid table Championship club?

Absolutely, if he has any say in the matter, its a no brainer, Shirley.

Game time possibly? Of our 5 loans only 2 nailed down a spot. MGW would probably as well. Hourihane is good but is he a guaranteed starter?

Arsenal transfer chief Edu identifies Newcastle ace to solve goalkeeper dilemma

Source: Daily Express

Arsenal are keen on signing a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman. Former England under-21 international Woodman is currently midway through his second season on loan at Championship side Swansea City.

Arsenal are in the market for a goalkeeper following the departure of Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa at the start of the season.

Summer signing Runar Alex Runarsson is not viewed as ready to be a regular first-team player and could leave on loan after some shaky performances in cup competitions.

Bernd Leno is Arsenal's No 1 but there is not much at the club to backup the German, with Matt Macey also leaving for Hibernian earlier this month.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed recently that he was looking at bolstering his options in goal.

Arteta said: "We are assessing the situation with the three positions on the goalkeeping area and we will find a different solution, probably in this window."

And football.london claim Gunners technical director Edu has identified Woodman as a candidate to become the club's second-choice stopper.

Woodman's father Andy is the head of under-23s goalkeeping at Arsenal.

Woodman first joined Newcastle's youth setup from Crystal Palace in 2013.

We need new recruits, attacking midfielder and a forward if the Americans are serious about chasing that top two spot

If Marseille are interested in Dhanda then would be a strange chain. Sanson one of their midfielders looks like being the replacement for Hourihane who is coming to us, for us to send Dhanda to Marseille. My head hurts
