21/22: The Official Luton Town v Swansea City Match Thread

martin deserves respect for turning that around

It’s quite obvious as well though that Luton lacked intensity as they thought it was done. And when that happens, at 32 it’s hard for them to up tempo again.

The starting team and formation was awful. Let’s hope he realises that now and we don’t give ourselves a mountain to climb by the time we figure it out. If playing 3 at the back, which I don’t like but whatever, you have to have two up front to save the centre being so congested you can’t do anything. And quite why he hasn’t already realised NtCham is on a completely different level is beyond me.

Have to take that but should have won.

Another point and move on. Incredible response. Don't bench Piroe, Ntcham or Cabango. Thanks

If Piroe and Ntcham are fit, they start. That has to be the main lesson he takes from this.

That and his starting formation was dreadful. It doesn’t work.

The game reinforced my opinion that our midfield should have one of Grimes or Downes but never both unless we are playing Man City or the like. If we are looking to dominate possession and attack quickly then two holding midfielders is counter productive to that playstyle.

Ntcham ran the show when he came on and when fit and firing must be the first name on the midfield teamsheet all day long. Walsh and Paterson to offer support up front and then a front two made up of Piroe, Obafemi, Whittaker and Cullen must be our setup almost every game.

We looked a different team in the second half, and we looked way more threatening for the last 20 against Hull and Millwall when we brought on a second striker up top.

I just cannot understand why we are such a soft team, Luton smacked is about all game and we just took it like lemons.

Got to be happy with a point after the first half! Would stayed 3-0 if Cooper was in charge!

Surely to God Martin now has to see his opening formation was wrong. And not playing Ntcham and a Piroe was ridiculous,

Ntcham is so far above the rest it’s unbelievable if he doesn’t play every single minute from now on.

Brilliant to get the point. But it’s shocking that we end up so ecstatic about getting a point at Luton.

Could argue he did exactly the right thing with Ntcham after he was pants on Wednesday. Unleash him for one half at full throttle. Just a shame we were 3-0 down. Still no excuse for starting with Grimes and Downes though.

Just like I thought with Cooper, we need to be much more assertive in our play. It will be very interesting to see which way he jumps now. Adapt or go back to default setting. A free hit on Wednesday to try and make up his mind.

No, I disagree. If he can’t do 90 you start him. Otherwise we’ve a mountain to climb as we have precisely zero creativity in midfield with the starting formation and line up.
The twice this season so far we’ve looked like scoring is the twice we’ve moved from his preferred formation. Second half today and away at Bristol.

You didn't watch the 2nd half at all then???????

Gotta be 2 strikers and a number 10 from now on.

Piroe obafemi
Ntcham

Let the rest battle it out for 2 midfield spots

What a bunch of drama queens on this thread. I never thought we’d lose.

we created enough chances to win two games today. Hit bar twice, Piroe missed two from 5 yards out, obafemi unlucky at the end. We are having no luck yet with chances and absolutely disgusting referee decisions. Put my house on manning getting a red if he had done that, or the pen last week, or them scoring obafemis chance at the end

Can you believe Piroe has five goals in this team?
