Agreement reached.

Well that yesterday was from the horses mouth, you’ve seen that yourself. It’s also fact the new backers here (morris and cravatt) wanted him to stay.

Now I’m not denying Levien and Silverstein would have preferred compo as he completely outed them after Jan, but there was never any agreement in place.
Yeah I just think Silverstein is not being 100% honest I don’t imagine he’d come out and say we already decided to let Russell leave end of the season and told him to look elsewhere to save face, wether Martin will come out and say that once he’s left is another story.

Speaking of Morris that’s all gone quiet hasn’t it?

He was about to fly out to America for talks about next season. If Southampton didn’t come calling he’d still be here.

Morris and cravatt are working for the club already, not sure why it hasn’t been announced though.

**by my first paragraph I mean he wouldn’t have been sacked, seems as if a contract was taking forever which was more than likely levien and Silverstein making it clear they wanted him gone, but a severance package was never agreed, that’s rubbish.

According to the BBC Southampton haven’t come calling yet. They’re speaking to Martin but haven’t approached the Swans yet.

They don't really need to until they have everything sorted with Russell. There's a release clause in his contract so all they need from Swansea is the bank details to send the payment.

Have you come to your senses yet RISC? Southampton or no Southampton, I’ve been telling you for ages he’s TOAST!

No problem. 👍

Are you joking? 😂😂 He said there was a package agreed for russ at the end of season and we literally had the owner on here yesterday telling us they had been in talks about a longer deal for some time. WalesOnline are now saying Russ pulled out of contract talks.

There was no talks of Martin leaving at that time, and the players never stopped playing for him either, spectacularly wrong with this particular one.

This deserves attention.

I said there was an agreement reached, not that there was a package agreed.

I’m also on record as saying that the issue of severance or compo was to be settled.

You are on record, stating “boIIocks”,

I have been correct in everything I said.

So what was the agreement? Surely if there was a agreement for him to go, with a year left on his contract then severance was already sorted?

It won't play out as simply as that. Agreements on contract terminations can be reached without the finer detail on severance packages will which take all sorts of factors into account e.g. performance related pay, bonus schemes, retention clauses, allowances for housing / cars / school fees. And this before any input from legal bodies.

Nailed on we play the Saints in the first 3/4 games now.

I’d rather play them during their long mid season slump.

So what why the trip to America planned? Why was Silverstein claiming they’ve been in contact about a longer contract for a while.
There was nothing in place when Itchy first claimed it. Morning at all.

If Southampton hadn’t have come in, Martin wouldn’t have been sacked. His relationship with Levien and Silverstein had broken down completely, but that will happen with the next manager, the next one again, and the next one after that, because they are as toxic as it gets.

Go back to the OP Risc. I’m never offered any info on specifics or any opinion either way, I just told you a FACT!

Now you tell us what’s going on as you’ve rubbished everything I’ve said so you’re obviously ITK.

Plus our lot could never have assumed that they’d be counting their lucky stars with some other mug willing to take him off our hands. They might have hoped, but they couldn’t have counted on it.

This is not disimilar to the Cooper severance.

I also have no evidence as to whether you or Itchy called it correctly.

My point is that severance packages don't necessarily get finalised at the time of making an agreement to terminate contract. It's no different to other sectors in this respect.

FWIW I considered the US trip as a review of the season just played out, a review of strategy for summer recruitment, and target setting around contract renewal. The plug then got pulled at the last minute as the telephone lines from Southampton HQ started getting busy

My thoughts too. Probably felt like Christmas coming early.
