Captain Grimes on his way to Coventry City?

He's been missing in action on the pitch all seasons, likely in the knowledge that his agent has been tapping him up with a view to moving for better wages.

It's football, and we'd all do our jobs for more money when asked. But if it is 2.5 million then just get another midfielder and strengthen the squad. Realistically should be more than 2.5m though.

I would take this opportunity to get rid of a player who has run his course with us
HOWEVER, would we get someone to replace him as its another off our thin squad
HOWEVER, he puts minimal effort in now. If we didn't let him go I can see him doing even less and just strolling around the defence picking his nose

Grimes is purely a stat driven player , his numbers on paper look tidy but in the context of a match they do nothing but hinder our team. Replaceable but will they have the purpose to replace him

He averages an assist every 10 games and a goal even more than that

• The guy hasn't been a visual presence on the pitch or a vocal captain ever since he started getting regular games and then captaincy.
• He never puts himself into a tackle or a battle in the air. I don't think I can count on one hand the amount of times he has won an aerial battle.
• His stats are extremely scewed to look good by the way he plays.
• He constantly gets mocked by the people in my area of the stand because he always turns towards his own goal.
• There is an obvious issue within the team of players and something has stunk for a long time.
• We have changed managers many times, he continues to do what he wants on the pitch and never play forward. He always tries to "drop in" between the defenders usually putting us in much more dangerous positions.
• He causes a lot of our stupid goals by being a liability to our defenders who aren't good enough to play the ball out themselves. He passes to them in such stupid positions. Making himself look good and them bad.

He should've been dropped by Williams a long time ago but Williams is also a huge tactical liability to this team. Anyone with half a football brain would know what Grimes and Williams are to the game. Both are extremely average.

Definitely think there is better out there. But there's no evidence to suggest we'll find it. Which is my point of listing the players I did, I guess.

We knew Downes and Piroe would be a massive loss and hard to replace but I expect most of us hoped we'd improve on the likes of Manning, Latibeaudiere, Ntcham, etc... but we haven't got close to doing so.

Fair points. I would question Latibeaudiere. Personally not a fan, but I get your other points.
