Captain Grimes on his way to Coventry City?

As I've posted before. He is arrogant. He thinks he is the big "I am" and the other players don't like him. He blatantly undermines Williams (not that would be too difficult as he's an imbecile). So, yep, he is an issue behind the the scenes. Add that too his dross performances. I know what I'd be trying to do
Personally I questioned this when you brought this up. But I will eat my words. Something is in this. We will never know for sure, but we'll called.

I don't think anyone's mentioned another salient fact unless I missed it, but Grimesy is going to be 30 in July.
He is rapidly approaching his 'sell by' date, so if someone is offering 2.5 million for him, I'd grab it.
Not that I've got any confidence in our owners bringing in anyone half decent to replace him.
Very true. I just clocked this. Makes sense if you look at it that way. We won't get many years in him and might be perfect time.

Handing in a transfer request last week and demanded to go. fee is only 2.5m I believe
Bizarre. Wasn’t he saying just the other week that he wanted to see his career out here?

I wonder what’s happened. No chance of Williams going and Grimes pissed off with that maybe? Or has seen how bad things are now going under the new regime?

Whatever it is, he’s been off his game a bit for a few games now. It shows on the pitch he’s not happy imo.

Anybody who gets their heads turned are no use to us. We need players invested in the club and if Grimes and Darling don't want to be here then we need to look at the bigger picture. This however puts more pressure on Coleman and LW to deliver replacements which will reveal the new owners desire and ambition.

I quite like using the "WhoScored" website to see where players sit in average ratings and stats.

Grimes is currently 127 in the championship ratings. Franco (124), Darling (79) and Cabango (77) are all above him.

Grimes has 1 assist in 29 games...

DMs tend not to produce many assists. You can get into the top 10 ranking of DMs (just) with one assist. Franco only has one and plays further forward.

Well off he can fuck then.

Our club is bigger than any single player, and certainly bigger than an average, humdrum Championship-level player that has never pulled up any trees at this level.

Coventry can have him. They're welcome to him. Let's see how many tackles he's allowed to jib up there, or how many of his corners hit the first man before they lose their shit.

However they should tackle. I put some stats up last night which showed him ranked as 198th this season in tackles per 90 mins. Franco was 7th by comparison.

So what's the thoughts guys?

More money
Fed up with Williams
Fed up with the board
Not getting his own way.

If he goes, it looks very much that way, we certainly need to make use out of this tidy windfall from his sale and Whittaker sell on fee coupled with the wages opened up.

I would be happy to see him go as long as we get the players in that we require
Midfielder to replace Grimes
Attacking midfielder
Winger
Even a striker on loan

Big week coming up for all at the club.

That’s true enough. 1.6 tackles per game compared to 1.8 last season. Franco at 3.3.

Guess who’s bottom of all the DMs in the league with a mighty 0.2 tackles per game? Our very own Jay Fulton 🤣

He almost walked out on a free a few seasons back only to sign a new contract when he realised no other club wanted him.

The sooner he signs for Coventry the better for the club.
Spot on. He would of gone and has flirted with going for years. Alot of people think just because he doesn't do a Whittaker. He is committed. I could care less the reasons he wants to go. He will jump at opportunity to work with Lampard and at coming up to 30 it's his last big payday.

No other club stupid enough to pay him what we do until now it would seem.
