Grimes...

Look at piece of paper or look at a game in play. I do the later, you obviously do the former.
I'm interested in facts, not looking selectively for evidence to fit an agenda.

To illustrate the point 20.3 per cent of O'Brien's passes were backwards and 27.5 per cent forwards. If you focus exclusively on the backwards passes you see a backwards passing player.

I didn't see the match, but Grimes' 21 passes into the final third was more than twice as many as any other midfielder on either side. The highly acclaimed Bellingham had 7. I wonder which Swansea player those brown tinted specs will be applied to next season.
Careful with those facts mate - dangerous if they don't fit the narrative.

There’s a chap on Twitter who has lost his mind over Grimes today. Been arguing with Trundle all day, all because a “I know something I have contacts” poster, planted a seed in his head.

Why do people hang on randoms words because “I know the truth” 🙄

Well Trundle has confirmed Grimes wasn’t pushed out of the club, so let’s put that one to bed, he left because he wanted more money simple.
More Money, unhappy with Williams, Coleman etc. Anyways, I'm happy to move on from Grimes until we see him against us. Then its knives out again 😂😂😂

Can't say I massively disagree with her. All for slagging him off, but we're on to nearly 200 posts on him at this point, move on lads.
She's asking "if he was shit, why are we still talking about him".

I can think of 2 answers.

1.We all agree in varying degrees that he was quite shit but we're now discussing "how shit" .

2. Mind your own fucking business.

I watched the second half and extra time. I thought Grimes played fine, but none of those 21 passes created anything as far as I can remember. You keep giving fine examples of how stats can be misleading.

A player like Grimes gets spoken about so much as you said because there is varying degrees of opinions, plus in my opinion alot came out about how he was in the club. True or not. We have had players come and go, some better than others and some unappreciated, but one thing is for sure, there is no smoke without the fire. And the way he went about leaving the club is just 1 example of why some fans have an issue. I have a bag full. But like I said, I'll pack that away for now until we face him next season 😂😂

Yup. Coventry had two shots on target, and just one clear cut chance, in 120+ mins. Against a team that parked the bus for most of the match.

Grimes could have had 21, 31, 41 passes into the final third if he'd liked - none of it's worth a wank if the team only troubled the Sunderland GK twice all night.

While at the same time optimistically calling them “facts”.

According to Fotmob he created one of three big chances and 3 chances overall. 8.1 match rating, 7.2 average for the season, joint best. Grimes is rarely brilliant but is consistently good to very good. And has been for 7 seasons.

In any event I welcome our new, higher tempo style under Sheehan. Grimes is our past for better or worse. Finding a long term replacement is going to be a challenging task for our recruitment team.
