• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Your insistence that you somehow "could see it a mile off" would be a lot more believable if past experience hadn't tought me that you are precisely the kind of chap who insisted to the end that Russell Martin just hadn't been backed enough.

We have another Russell Martin mention. Another missing his flowing handsome locks.

I suppose it’s pointless saying you assume wrong.

The start of a season is far harder. Anyone who has played the game will understand that. It’s the time when the foundations are laid for the season ahead.

It would have been a much bigger shock to me if this had turned out well. Again people are swept away by a temporary manager who over achieved but was coming in with all the conditions rife for an end of season boost.

I’m finding this deeply frustrating because I could see it a mile off.
Assume you pointed this out when he was appointed permanently or are you just coming on here and claiming knowledge with hindsight?

He wanted to play with three central midfielders and no #10. That was duller to watch than a Rugby game so he's had to change it.

Of the two I think Eom is perhaps better suited to playing as a #10, but I'd take Widell at a push. Widell to me seems like a Ntcham type player. A charging #8 capable of a slide pass or a shot from distance. The problem we have is to accommodate him as that and Eom at AM means losing one of Franco or Galbraith, and that's not even bringing Stamenic or Yalcouye into the equasion.

The midfield is unbalanced as a result of our recruitment for the managers requirements.

Exactly this. The wing backs allow us to get in a Number 10 but the slight issue with that is, we don't have one.

The other issue is that whilst one of the wing backs is very well suited to that position, the other simply isn't.

So he has switched to a formation where he doesn't have, at least, two key components. No pun intended.

I would also add in, as an aside, that for Franco is at his best when he's allowed to run around like a madman. However, he seems to have been prevented from doing this more recently. Presumably because he's being asked to hold his position more rather than play to his strengths.

“It’s not about a “proven” manager.

I’m interested to know what Sheehans ambitions are for building the club from the bottom up.

Is he good at identifying players? Does he have the contacts?

Is the bounce related to brilliant management or simply a buzz returning to dressing room and also at this point in the season many teams start easing off or make mistakes because of pressure.

I always said we’d end up mid table and that’s why I advocated not panicking and appointing someone till end of season.

As I said I bloody hope you’re correct and he’s the man to take us back the prem, rebuild the club not just on the pitch but for the long term. Spend wisely etc.

I’d hate another round of should he go or not by Christmas. I really hope it’s a different story and Sheehan is the man to break the malaise that has been there for a long while now. I am very skeptical.

But let’s see.”

Good enough for you? From April

After this weekend does anyone think we should have given Sheehan more time? 😂😂
