• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

We needed centre halves, if we didn't manage to sign Burgess or Casey then are you suggesting we would have gone from the start of the season to today with just Cabango and Santos? Come on, really!? The suggestion that we signed Santos just incase we didn't sign another centre half is just nonsense.

That's not what I'm saying. Having Santos on the books meant we at least had 2 senior CB's for early friendlies etc if Burgess hadn't signed. Also signing Santos on a free meant we didn't look as desperate to selling clubs who would know they had us over a barrel. Look at what we paid for Clucas, there's no way Hull would have gone so high if they weren't well aware that we'd just sold Gylfi for big money and were desperate to sign a replacement.

As it worked out, we got Burgess on what was probably a reasonable financial package and loaned Casey, so no problem. Santos became 4th choice CB and would presumably have been a League Cup starter had he not been injured. If we hadn't got Burgess and Casey, any clubs we contacted about one of their CB's would have known they held all the cards. Who knows how much we would then have spent, or how far down our list of targets we would have to have gone?

I'm not saying Santos was a brilliant signing, but I'm bewildered by the contingent who are trying to paint it as a disaster. If you rank all our signings over say the past 5 years, he's going to be middle of the pack at worst.

I don't think anyone is saying it was a disaster(apologies if someone has) but it has come across as a pointless signing and that even if he didn't get injured.
In regards to Burgess and Casey, we don't know how far they were down the list!

He might even end up staying with us now if rumours are true that he failed his medical at Reading, here is hoping that it's not true or that another club has come in for him.
Or maybe even stopped by us if WHU recall Casey.

If they've recalled him over game time, then we've only got ourselves to blame.
Burgess went through a phase of stinking the place out and we're currently shoehorning Galbraith in at RB when Casey could have done a job there.
Even if Santos is now blocked from leaving, we're still light at the back.

Re Casey, I would ask West Ham: what did you expect?

By the time we signed Casey on loan we had already signed Burgess and had Cabango as a starter. If this is about game time Casey was never going to be a regular for us in the Championship and West Ham presumably knew that.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Casey and I think he is good enough to have started a few more for us but I doubt West Ham are surprised he wasn’t starting often.

I am not convinced we are shoehorning Galbraith at RB. We are a better team when he’s there.

Casey is probably asking to be recalled himself so he can go onto play in the 2nd half of the season.

I think that would make more sense, capable of starting in the Championship for me so definitely the right move for him. Hope we can get a CB through the door.

I like his versatility with Orient he played everywhere on the right side .
He is such a good footballer he makes it look easy .
Having you best players on the pitch is what's its all about .
Our midfield is good enough without him .
Swapping him into midfield works well .

Sheehan left us stuck with players like Pedersen Idah and now Santos ffs.

He's been an absolute vermin to this club ever since his mate Watson brought him in. So glad hes gone.
